@mnrkr74 I have to agree with you. Wired is also the way to go for me. I like that it’s plug & play, no connecting, updating etc.
Definitely prefer plug and play, simplicity of no updates and not having to rely on technology.
Its really not. Many BT headphones have a cable option, non BT headphones offer better value for price (sound quality) and most important, constant BT connection drains battery faster.
On sidenote, I believe it can also aid FM tuner option as in some phones headphones improve FM Radio connectivity.,
How many more sneak peeks are we going to get before you show us the full phone. It’s like watching paint dry.
@ziggyd We’re working on it. We plan on sharing more info soon, so stay tuned!
Please make Graphene OS the OS of the Kompakt. It is very popular here in Alaska for its security features, privacy, and the ability to have multiple profiles.
On my Hisense phones, I do without GAPPS, but this means I don’t get notifications from a lot of my messaging apps like Signal.
On my Hisense phones, the built in voice assistant only speaks Chinese. I only speak English, Esperanto, and some Spanish, making it funny but useless.
On my favorite Hisense phone, I bluetoothed the f-droid store apk to myself, and then never even enabled the default apps.
If you put Graphene OS on the Kompakt, I would like to have a Kompakt with a profile for when I can use my eyes, that does not use google, and a profile for when I can not use my eyes, which could include some of the google accessibility features.
If you could do this, oh my, the free marketing you would get out of me would probably give you joy and profit.
Couldn’t you par down the Graphene OS image to have a minimum number of preinstalled apps, like phone, messaging, browser, and f-droid, so super simple and in line with Mudita ethic?
We need more energy going into improving the best of the existing open source OS projects. No need to reinvent the wheel when it would be almost impossible to do better. Go Graphene OS on the Kompakt, please.
Will banking apps work with this?
If the phone is just a few months from release, you could provide all the details with a disclaimer saying changes are possible.
I’m particularly interested in seeing how the display works. The other e-ink smartphones have already set the bar.
I’ve heard, yes, they work.
After discussing potential features on the Kompakt, I have more suggestions for the Pure. A camera, directory and maps should be helpful. It would then be a good competitor to the Light Phone III, while letting the Kompakt be more useful for other users.
@gmahale what type of directory? Like a contact list? PURE has a contact list.
@urszula It should be something with details about businesses. I have not used one myself, but the Light Phone apparently has it. Some others here have made references to it while discussing the Light Phone.
@gmahale I think you’re referring to a type of white pages (information directory). Some phones pull up info from the internet when a business calls you & even when don’t have the phone number saved in your device- the info for the caller come up on your caller ID. Is this what you’re referring to?
Mudita Kompakt 4G/LTE in the USA
Here – from what I could find today – are the Mudita Kompakt 4G/LTE bands that overlap with the 4G/LTE bands supported by the three major cellular carriers in the USA:
- AT&T: 5/12
- T-Mobile: 5/12
- Verizon: 5/13
To be determined for each carrier is whether it will support Kompakt on its network.
If these are all the bands, it is not enough.
If these overlaps with USA carriers are insufficient, then I hope that the final version of the cellular radio in the Kompakt provides more overlap of USA carriers’ 4G/LTE bands.
I really hope we are not going to have the same issues we had with the Pure, they said they were GSM last time in all their you tube videos and that turned out to be incorrect so I really hope we are not going to have the same connection issues for people in North America, Its just unacceptable for them to have these same issues AGAIN
At this point we not have to HOPE lol, people in north america are dying to be able to use a mudita phone on a consistent basis without any issues
I hope so too. These bands would work in major metro areas, but once you step out, you’ll be fishing for 3G and 2G (in Canada, because in the US those are essentially dead).
Edit: Also, they would work only outside and not in buildings (depending on the material of course).
