Blog: First Glimpse of Mudita Kompakt

Surely, all apps should be either user choice downloads or easy to remove.

Instead of developing from 0, maybe its best to send Kompakt Phone to developers and pay for some adjusted and full Special Kompakt edition.

I vote for removable apps, that are offered install, but not mandatory:
Vivaldi browser Android, that combines Chrome engine with high user customizability of Opera.
As of Android pre built apps:

  • Dub as mp3 player
  • Writer P as Notes
  • Chat: Google Chat that can work without google
sign in, using soem Mudita profile name but can chat to all gmail users
Map: ** Organic Maps or HereWeGo final**
    Optional: Google Lens are great!
  • Signal as communicator, alternative Telegram as better forum / file transfer
  • Google Picassa as Picture manager:
    - Total Commander as file manager
  • RAR as compression utility / ZIP handler
  • VLC as video player
  • CBR and eBook reader: Perfect Viewer
  • Education: Built in Wikipedia and Bible apps, IMDB, Discdogs, ebay, Blogger
  • Office **PDF Reader, ogle Docs or Libre Office
  • Entertainments: Good Tetris, Snake and maybe Mario Brothers  or Puzzle Friday 13 , UnCiv, Bomberman? (I know entertaiment is not your first choice, but then again should be optional)

This would solve most of users demands, remaing rest as user choice. If some apps are paid some shared profit model for Mudita Kompakt optimized e-ink app would be great!

Many companies bloat phones with their own players, themes, profiles etc. that cannot be uninstalled, and needs to be replaced by new better apps, thus taking more memory from phone, as well as storage.

Functional software package for free, optmized for e-ink, that can be customized, would be a big PLUS

Its better to get along with already specialized products that do work, then to reinvent the wheel. Plus with them you could get LTS support, bugfixing, optimizations for these products.

Here’s the site for the BraX3, which includes specifications, such as which 4G/LTE bands it supports. It’s fun to see what other privacy-oriented cellphone makers are doing, but I still believe that there is a distinct market for the Mudita Kompakt – privacy-oriented and an E Ink display!

The BraX3 (touted as “the most privacy-friendly smartphone”) launched today on IndieGoGo.

I have all respect for Rob Braxman and what he’s trying to do. I also like Iodé. Didn’t know they now work together.
But the problem with Iodé OS, LineageOS, /e/ OS, CalyxOS etc. is that there is little extra threat protection except some ad blocking. If you want a smartphone with apps and really good threat protection, you need GrapheneOS. Look at this small video using a threat model to analyse the privacy of iOS, Googled Android, deGoogled Android (AOSP), and GrapheneOS.

The Mudita Kompakt is actually a better options than most ‘privacy’ phones, because it is not really connected to the internet (except the weather app and the maps app). There are no other apps which could spy on you, unless you fiddle with the phone and install apks.

^ Ditto for my Sunbeam Wireless F1 Orchid + the Premium Service, which gives me anonymous access to live traffic in the maps app, anonymous access to a radar map in the weather app, and anonymous, super-fast speech-to-text conversions across all apps that have text-input fields

(The Mudita Kompakt will replace my Orchid next May.)

What I like is basing phone on full blooded Linux, instead of souped candy Android.
Otherwise I see it as old |Chinese businessman idea of making money

Also they dont restrict shipping

Are there any taxes and duty fees for customers in the Rest of the World?

Rest of the World orders will be shipped out of our EU-based logistics hub, requiring import. You will be charged tax and/or duty fees from the courier company or customs. For more information on those, please refer to your local regulations and procedures. Please note that some countries may require special approvals to import. Please refer to your local regulations and procedures prior to ordering. We will refund you in full if you are unable to import the goods.

You mean to USA? As of e.g. female reproductive rights, mainly catholic countries and some US states are banning right to abortion, which ladies fought long and hard for… Social rights in US democracy are lower then in PRC or DPRK, even then in Tanzania or South Africa.
Due to social rights I would even migrate to North Korea, at least from Serbian feudal capitalism.
I find it dubios developed countries have fired their working class, pretending services are productive and moved production to PRC. It did raise PRC standard, technology and world power status, but ,made all production there., I miss in quality made in EU, be it romania, made in taiwan, made in germany.
Pure was expensive but wasnt PRC. Kompakt is cheaper thanks to PRC.
Also AliBaba, Temu, local Chinese are also bred and butter of poor of West and of East Europe, but China uses it to export population. Strage times we do live in, Italian professor told me silk tie was never cheaper. I sad due to PRC prices, PRC materials, even sweat shops maybe and surely less jobs for Italians.
But its your right who will you support but mind that by owning Apple, ASUS etc. today you do the same.
Support gouverment that banned Winnie The Puh due to Internet meme
To me, Trump is more scary to me, with american interest in every country, then See Jee Ping.
When Serbia deals to US they pay downpressed company price and extract all profits. They even bomb factories and then buy it (Zastava, Yugoslav army HQ Belgrade …)
When Serbia deals with Chinese they give loan, send their workforce taking back part of it, install dirty tech and extract some profits after,
Well Cuba, African countries and DPRK are more fair in contracting and bussiness.
