Best app for hiking/trails navigation?

I’m going on a quick 2 night wild camping trip in Scotland this summer and was planning to only take my Kompakt - in part because of the great battery life.

We’ll have a map of course (and my friend’s smartphone) but I was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations for trail maps that work well on the phone?

Both Gaia GPS and All trails don’t seem to work without Google Play Services - and I’m guessing they’d not be great on an eink screen anyway.

Anything anyone here has had luck with? Ideally it would have offline maps and the ability to save locations. Happy to pay to use it.

I’ve read positive reviews about Outdooractive in this thread for your purposes: What do mountains look like in the Maps app? - #9 by lele . Might br worth taking a look at, I haven’t used it myself. OSMAnd looks alright. You just have to adjust the layers a bit.

I’ve actually been using Gaia for a while on the Kompakt and haven’t had any issues. I’ve found the display quite nice on the e-ink screen. I downloaded from the Aurora store.

The official Ordnance Survey app works great for offline maps and you can add pins. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to get GPS working with the app.

Brief update on this - I used Organic Maps on my trip and it worked really well! No logins or Google Play needed, and the information is all very well laid out. The actual maps could be slightly more legible on an e-ink screen but I didn’t have any big issues.

Navigation worked flawlessly.
