Best alternative keyboards? (not gboard)

Can anyone tell me how I can switch from the Futo keyboard to the Mudita keyboard so I can test whether it’s better after the update? I don’t want to have to uninstall Futo, but I can’t find an option to switch between the two keyboards.

Developer Options → Manage On-screen Keyboard

There disable FUTO so Mudita Keyboard becomes default again and you can test it.

But no, the main issue on the keyboard is still the same. It doesn’t use standard keyboard spacing so it f**** with your brain

Same for me, I much prefer it to Futo and is def better than the stock keyboard.

I’m trying Heliboard right now and it looks very good, thank you for the recommendation.

Sorry for being such a lazy guy, but did someone try multiple keyboards and can say a word or two about each pros and cons?
FUTO, Fossify, Heliboard, Flickboard, else?
I’m going to install FUTO at first, I need autocorrect badly and swipe typing would be of great help. But maybe one of the other ones if better.
I can go back to stock kb when I reach next level of patience when I use the phone mostly for text messages.

I switched from FUTO to Heliboard recently and it feels slightly more responsive. Also might be a wishful thinking, but suggestions are seemingly more accurate on Heliboard for me. Didn’t try others though so can’t testify

After using Heliboard for a few days, I can say that the difference compared to the stock keyboard is huge. I can finally write longer notes without constantly going back and correcting the text. I haven’t tested any other alternatives…

Thanks guys, I’ll have to wrap my head around this. So far I only don’t like one thing about FUTO, when you press a button there’s some tall gray box with the letter like I pulled it up for indication of what I’m pressing. I bet I can turn this off. But I also need to somehow deliver Polish autocorrect file down to MK. All those keyboards look so similar to me.

Yup, it was a setting. FUTO keyboard is fair enough for me. I only miss swiping input. It’s there, but it’s slow. Not sure if it’s the app, rusty chipset, or this particular eInk responsiveness.
Anyway, now it’s better. I’m currently too tied to need to type fast with all my busyness and can’t embrace the slow-down necessity while using stock keyboard.

Can also confirm this. Heliboard is faster than FUTO

Mudita’s inaccurate and laggy keyboard functionality is driving me INSANE.

I actually fine the stock keyboard better than the above ones you mention, not sure why I just prefer it, something very intentional about the typing experience matches the whole ethos of the company

Hello! I’m considering buying a Kompakt, but the keyboard experience is a deal breaker for me. I’m wondering, of the alternative options mentioned, do they have decent support for:

  1. voice-to-text
  2. swiping
  3. multi-lingual (french, italian, and obv english)
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

FUTO has swiping but you need to be slower than on a smartphone I think, has voice to text and is multi-lingual but for each language other than English, you have to download:

  • a dictionary,
  • additional transformer file for next word prediction in a given language (optional),
  • speech-to-text auxiliary file for a given language (optional).
I only have a dictionary so I hope someone else can chime in to tell you how voice-to-text works with FUTO.

FUTO kb settings > keyboard and input > almost the last option, right below “undo autocorrect on backspace”

I got it in Polish but it sounds like “expand/highlight after pressing”.

Tried both: Futo and HeliBoard - I prefer HeliBoard - easier to customize and was able to write faster on it (I don’t use swiping - so no opinion here).
I liked voice to text on Futo - but it only worked well in English.
I tried Futo Voice - to use it with HeliBoard - but wasn’t able to make it work properly. Multilingual versions were all bad for my needs, and somehow English version also didn’t work well together with HB - maybe it’s doable - but I gave up (don’t really need it that much). Futo is in beta - so good chances that it’ll work better in the future, if they not end up swallowed by our usual suspects…
