Battery Life/Side Loading

Hello, I’m writing to share my experience with the Kompakt.

I side loaded Brave/Spotify/Waze/Notes/Timer/Gboard, all work very well.
Though, the phone will only go for about a day and a half for me, not a complaint, just a fact. I found that side loading Task Killer apps doesn’t do anything for OG or Side Loaded apps.

Suggestion to the developers: Please consider adding a task killer button.
I’ve noticed that all apps, be they Side or OG, never shut down unless done so manually from “Manage Apps” menu. I would bet this will further extend battery life (side loaded or not)

Now to complain a bit:

  • The native keyboard is painfully slow, and if I slow down (as is meant to with the roll out of this phone)…I find myself taking a very long time to respond to messages, or spending a lot of time correcting my spelling mistakes. The irony of this is, I’ll be staring at the screen for really long intervals.
  • The native Notes app only lets me do a couple sentences at most, which is why I side loaded another one (I need a time table to track hours for work)
  • Ereader is not usable in my testing with PDF’s, haven’t tried epubs, and side loading apps for this function doesn’t really fix the issue (less of a complaint due to me having a dedicated ereader). Suggestion though, maybe give us the option of disabling certain native apps that are not strictly necessary (ereader and maps, since they are not fully functional at its early stage).

Don’t know if this resonates with anyone. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to close apps en mass, instead of individually.

Well that does it, I think.
Outside of those few things, I think this phone is awesome.
No eye strain, don’t spend time scrolling, not getting distracted by random notifications, A+.

I don’t mind the keyboard but have heard FUTO is a very good alternative. For the notes app the title is limited on characters for the body of the note can take more, it took me a few taps to hit the right space to get to the body of the notes. I did sideload KOreader but use mostly epubs instead of pdfs, though i have a PDF i’ve been meaning to load.

Oh man, I’ve been trying to take notes in the title…that make a lot of sense. Thank you

I hope they’ll simply improve the native keyboard over time, I’d prefer not to have to sideload that. Right now I exercise patience.
With app killer, perhaps it’d be good to have a way (swipe left on the main screen?) to see opened apps and be able to close them on the fly. Not sure how well it could be on e-ink but perhaps could be in form of thumbnail tiles or just names of opened apps listed with an ‘x’ on the side…

@mikhail Thanks so much for sharing your detailed feedback! We really appreciate your suggestions, especially around task management and keyboard responsiveness. The idea of a task killer button is a VERY interesting idea, and I’ll pass it along to the team for their feedback.
I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the distraction-free experience overall.
Stay tuned for updates!

I have a Boox Tablet and it has a option to swipe up from the left to show all active apps, then it says to “close all apps”. That is more so of what I’m talking about. Definitely don’t know the difficulty level of that function.
