I have realized something, ever since the release of the Kompakt and knowing how this phone is going to be the ideal dumb phone with a easy texting experiences with a good sized screen using all the other dumbphones is beyond painful, I recently got the Punkt and the T9 texting is painful, same on the light phone the tiny screen and crappy e-ink refresh rate make texting frustrating. I don;t want to struggle while I am communicating with people. So I am going back to the Sunbeam Bluebird (the speech to text is amazing and its the only thing I am going to use to text, I HATE AND AM FED UP WITH T9 lol) for the 4.5 months I have to wait until the Kompakt is released in north america and then I am DONE, honestly finding the right dumb phone is a frustrating experience I never have to go through again thanks to the Kompakt. I am sending the Punkt back and selling my light phone 2, good riddance to both and love live the Mudita Kompakt!!!
I love the speech-to-text feature included in the Premium Service (US$40/year) from Sunbeam Wireless, as it is fast AND accurate on my Sunbeam Wireless F1 Orchid (no longer sold).
Sunbeam anonymizes my speech before sending it to the service (Microsoft, if I recall correctly from Sunbeam documentation) that converts my voice into text.
iPhone and Google Android cellphone users marvel at how quickly I can compose long text messages on my little Orchid flip-phone! The punctuation and spelling and capitalization are all very good.
I can live with Kompakt’s smartphone-size QWERTY keyboard for texting, but I wonder whether Mudita would ever consider offering such a speech-to-text service for the Kompakt, which I expect to receive in May of 2025.
Yeah same here I just need something till the Kompakt gets here I am just like i said fed up with crappy texting experiences with dumbphones, tried to convince myself okay it teaches me patience etc but sometimes you just want to be able to message people easily. I mean I am on no social media, don;t own a smartphone can’t be so minimalistic that I am down to t9 texting. I know with the Sunbeam as much as yes the flip phone factor is not for me, I will be able to see pictures sent to me, text easily with voice to text, have wave for directions and have a weather app, all things I WANT AND NEED, the phone is a tool, I don’t need to like it visually if anything that what makes it an addiction to me personally
Since text 2 speech is dependent on English accent, and is not avail in other local languages,
I prefer QWERTY keyboard, a forgotten technology. If trackpad and dedicated butons are included (see some Nokia and Vertu models, Blackberry …) it can be usable beyond fast typing.
Sadly number of QWERTY Android phones is down to 1 Blackbarry and 2 models from a bit shady company that lacks HW SW quality of Nokia and BB.
Yeah I am just tired of things be difficult, texting should be a breeze not a pain, especially if thats all you are doing on your phone, so I am going to use the speech to text on the sunbeam use this phone till the Kompakt comes out and then give this sunbeam phone to my son eventually
