Audiobooks on the Kompakt?

I’m considering getting a Kompakt for our ‘home phone’ which is currently an iPhone 7 on its last legs. The only thing is my 11yo uses it to listen to audiobooks on Audible and I’m wondering what people do with regards to audible and audiobooks? Most of the time we do not have an active subscription and she’s listening to ones we have purchased and downloaded.

I have audible sideloaded and it works with no issues!

I recommend switching from Audible to Libro.fm if you can. It works the same way but your money goes to small bookstores instead of Amazon, and the audiobooks are DRM-free, meaning you can download them to your computer and own the files forever even if Libro.fm goes down. And the app works on the Kompakt!

For elsewhere downloaded audiobooks, I can recommend the app “simple audiobook player”. Only basic functions and looks good on Eink

I’ve been an Audible customer since…wait for it…2005…so yeah, I totally love it. And I did sideloaded it on Kompakt, It works- however, since the app is NOT made for E ink screens, the graphics are all in greyscale, which is annoying.

Musicolet - Offline Music Player for Android without ads is a good application for listening audio books. It remembers positions, allows to listen several books concurrently switching them as a playlists. The app has ton of good features, for example, you can feed you audio book to whisper model to generate .lrc file for synchronized lyrics, and then you basically get audio book with the time coded text synchronized, so you can listen and read the book (useful when you are learning foreign languages through the books),
