Simplest way is to use Apple ecosystem on Apple products koz Apple made sure it does not work anywhere else.
Complain to Apple
iBooks, iMan say you should use iBrain and iGoogle
IPropose iUsers should iThink more then their iMacs and iPhones since iApple believes in making iCult and not being innovative.
Or simply you can get better for any money for anythink with i prefix.
I prefer MacOS Classic 1-9 and also LisaOS. That was innovative and some early PPC Macs. After that its no innovation just milking.
Unexpandable, short living devices that milk you even more on software side.
Note that I have iMac G5 and emulate Classic on PC. Was thinking of M series, but looking at sw side, fast cutting MacOS X.x for few years old models, expandable hardware and crazy prices for RAM and SSD I rated it as robbery.
To have PCI E slot you have to buy MacPro. Insane.

This is a very touchy topic because in the digital age, property rights become blurry because the integration of software into physical products allows companies to retain control over the items even after sale. So, you might not even own those books.
I’m not familiar with the Apple ecosystem or their terms of service. However, I suspect that it’s similar to Amazon. When you click “buy” on an Amazon e-book, you might believe you’re purchasing the book outright. However, according to Amazon’s terms, you’re not buying the book; you’re purchasing a license to access the content under specific conditions. This means that you can only read the e-book on Amazon-approved devices and must maintain an active Amazon account. Unlike a physical book, you cannot lend the e-book to a friend, make copies, or resell it.
So, if you’re trying to move these books to another device that is NOT an Apple device- you might be compromising your Apple account.
@RasVoja There is no need to be snarky to other community members. If a community member takes the time to write to us and asks a question, we need to appreciate them & try to help out. There is absolutely no need to be patronizing,
Thanks Urszula. I appreciate the distinction. On reflection, I’m not particularly comfortable with unlocking these protected items even for personal use either.
I may just keep an iPhone hidden in the car for playing audio books licensed from Apple.
The car is in range of the house wifi for so I could download a book before departure, or use the Kompakt as a hotspot while on the move.
Unfortunately, there is no real solution to it, and I’ve tried several. It is one of Apple’s tricks to keep people hostage within its ecosystem. The same issue occurs with full albums from iTunes.
The EU could look at it as it is a problem that affects not just Apple but also Amazon, Google, and other companies. If you bought a product, it should be yours in totality, without significant limitations.
It is possible to remove the DRM on Amazon and Google books and audio (which I consider a legitimate action, as the product is yours, and you should be able to do whatever you want with it), but not on Apple.
@howardbannister For the sake of transparency- I’m an avid Audible user, I have been since the late 1990s/Early 2000s- way before they were acquired completely by amazon. Back in the day, you could burn CDs of the audiobooks you bought, so you could listen to them in the car or at home (when not in front of the computer).
Since then, they have updated that software and you can’t do that anymore. However, versions of the OLD AudibleManager program are still on the internet, so it’s still possible.
This is not personal attack. Its my opinion on Apple. I might went over the topic with iBrain,
but I did provide the solution. I will restrain myself in future.
There is a link to working solution for iBooks that makes them reaable anywhere.
My sincere apologies if I sounded offensive OR personal. Its statemet towards Apple ecosys,
but not an individual attack.
