Not sure if its something I’m not doing correctly like shutting down the Call app properly , but I seem to get a lot of pocket dialing incidents out of the Kompakt. Anyone else experience this?
Yes, many have posted this problem.
disable the fingerprint reader for now until they fix it
Yes, my Kompakt called emergency services from the lock screen in my pocket today and I had to explain to the operator that it was an accident. I have since resorted to changing the default emergency number in my settings so it can’t dial automatically without me typing in the number manually, but of course this is worse in the case of an actual emergency. We deperately need this update to only turn on the Kompakt when the button is actually pressed, not when any touch even through fabric is detected!
I stopped using the phone because it was happening so frequently.
I actually have my security settings so that i swipe up to activate the phone so its not fingerprint in my case. I’m curious though as to how the right side lock button gets pressed in my pocket so easily , seems weird to me.
UPDATE: Our team is aware of this. They are working on this BUG
Does it also happen to you guys with case on the Kompakt?
It never happened to me since I have the device. (In case or without case)
Yes, happens with and without case. I did find it was easier to avoid with the case on though.
Nope, but being aware of the issue I put the phone in my shirt pocket screen to the outside, or in a kidney bag.
This happened to me for the first time today. It’s spooky hearing a disembodied voice in an empty room till you realise it’s the Kompact calling people at random.
@petemeister In your case, is this a FINGERPRINT censor? Or do you have a pin set?
I didn’t imagine this will be my first post, but…
I would like to have more information on how are you planning to handle this exact problem? I ordered a Kompakt and am still waiting on the delivery, really like the idea behind it. I see there are a lot of problems that need to be addressed and this is kind of “Okay”-ish for now, but this specific one gives me anxiety!
The idea that my device will randomly start dialing numbers in my pocket leaves me wondering will I even put my SIM card in the phone to test it.
I also encountered this issue with random calling. I had to disable the fingerprint sensor and I set “swipe up” method to unlock the phone and now it’s OK.
@astratev Yay for your first post
If the issue is with the Fingerprint sensor- that’s being addressed. Our team is working on it.
If you only have the PIN set- this shouldn’t be an issue (however- I’m still waiting for more info from the users who are experiencing this.)
@urszula I use the fingerprint sensor to unlock. Typically, I don’t have a problem with it. I’ve adjusted to its sensitivity and with the right technique, it unlocks every time. I don’t remember how it came to dial someone while in my pocket. He happened to be a roofer who quoted for some work on my property.
A few days later my 5 year old niece, curious about this bizarre-looking phone, accidentally dialled that same guy. He’s probably blocked me by now.
@petemeister Do you have a PIN set? This is quite weird. I’m trying to get my head around what is happening.
Yes, a passcode is set. Occasionally, when the device has been idle for a time the fingerprint sensor might vibrate and I’ll be shown the passcode unlock screen.
@petemeister I will pass this on to the team because I’m struggling to imagine how a pocket could bypass this.
@urszula, I think what probably happened was that my thumb brushed up against the sensor as I placed the phone in my pocket and perhaps another touch on the screen which dialled the last number.
I wouldn’t worry about it – it was probably user error. The fingerprint sensor is a tad too sensitive, which makes it prone to these things happening. So, chalk this issue up to the same fingerprint oversensitivity as others have reported.
I’m sure the team have enough on their plate. Please just get the team to commit to notifications for sideloaded apps and voicemail notifications. That would do nicely.
