Anybody tried the einkbro browser for the mudita kompakt?

This browser seems really optimized for e-ink devices. Even the App Icon doesn´t look out of place

maybe this could be a base for an mudita browser?

I probably won’t install it and I prefer not having it in Kompakt, too far off of the idea behind the phone. But good to know such browser could be sideloaded for those who need a browser as a tool for their job.

Yeah I will not be adding a browser , to me having a browser on the Kompakt beats the purpose of the phone

I don’t want an official Mudita browser, but I have sideloaded the Einkbro if I need to look anything up when I’m out and about. I’m not sure if I will keep it, though. It depends on whether I can manage to use it only when I really need to, or if I start using it to surf the web mindlessly.

Dry much the same view as others here. Looks like it might be good for those who want to side load one, but I don’t want a browser on this phone, an official one would completely defeat the purpose of the phone for me which is to reduce constant connectivity not increase it.

I know that an offical browser should be off the phone for many. I was spinning this thought in maybe future devices like an laptop/tablet.

How does it work/perform on the kompakt to thou how has sideloaded it?

I would probably “need” it for my work

Well I think it can be useful. I sometimes read long articles, short stories or even novels on the Internet, and I hate reading on my computer. I convert to epub, but it’s quite long and not always very pretty in the end. I think I’ll try einkbro (as it’s free and open source!) as soon as my Mudita Kompakt finds my mailbox

It works just fine. It’s e-ink, so it doesn’t look that good when there’s a lot of images, colours, etc. But it’s smoother scrolling and less ghosting than I expected.

@tobi thank you for this. Don’t know if I would install it on my MK when it arrives but I’ve put it on my Boox Palma and it’s a joy for eink with reader mode, white background, etc.

I guess I will put it “testwise” on my supernote then

Yeah that would be my biggest concern sideloading anything, I don’t want an option to do something mindlessly when I am bored, I want to be bored, that is a skill we all need to learn

I decided to post my question here, which, while related to the Eink browser and Eink devices, may not be relevant to Mudita Kompakt, so I hope someone might have more insight (I also posted this on Einkbro Github).

I want to use the Soundslice web music notation editor on Einkbro with the Supernote Manta. The editor works well in Brave and other browsers, but I can’t get it past the score (slice) setup page on Einkbro. However, when I open a previously created score (slice), it loads in a music notation editor similar to other browsers.

A few observations:

  • The app opens fine in a new tab.

  • Once I click Create Slice, a pop-up window opens, giving a few options to set up the score.

  • The problem occurs when I select Start from Scratch (Use our editor) option, creating what appears to be a loop.

Do you think I should enable or modify Einkbro settings to make this work? Would someone be able to test it? The app is free.

Currently, there’s no dedicated Soundslice app. While the editor can be used as a progressive app, the Supernote Manta operating system doesn’t currently support installing progressive apps.

I like the functionality of the Eink browser for e-ink devices and hope to compose music on Manta with this setup.

Thanks for your help!

Hey @zyny, I use Soundslice on the Kompact with einkbro and I was able to create a slice from scratch with no issues just now, let me know if you want to compare browser settings if yours still isn’t working.

Thank you so much for trying it out!

Yes, I’d like to compare the browser settings, hoping the same will work on the Supernote Manta Eink tablet. I mentioned that because of the screen size, I wouldn’t be able to use Soundslice on Kompakt, but I thought the browser would function similarly.

Was there anything special you needed to set up in Einkbro to use Soundslice?

Sorry for the late response! Here are images of the settings pages that might be relevant, though I don’t think I changed anything besides a few tweaks to reduce visual clutter. I tried einkbro and soundslice on an android emulator as well before I got the Kompakt and I don’t remember having to change anything.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I had a chance to test Soundslice in EinkBro, and it works perfectly on Mudita, but for some reason, it’s not allowing me to advance past the score (slice) setup window on the Supernote Manta. It must be something to do with Manta’s operating system.
