Any hack to simple update of Signal app?

How do you deal with the issue of updating the Signal app? So far, I’ve done it by downloading a new version from the official website. I also tried Obtainium, but without success. Thanks for the advice

use obtainium it is an app that lets you put in the download link of the app you want to install/update. there is a good video on youtube that shows you how use it but it wont let me post links.

I installed only one app through the Mudita Center: f-droid !

F-droid will then update itself and allows you to install other apps. From there, two options:

  1. You install Aurora Store then install Signal from the Aurora Store. Update from the Aurora Store.

  2. You add the Molly repository to f-droid ( Download Molly | F-Droid ) then install and use Molly. Molly is a Google-free version of Signal which allows you to run on multiple phones with the same Signal account.

I’m using solution 2) and very happy with it.

It’s the easiest if you have the aurora store installed, then it’s just a standard update.

Thanks for the reply, I had Obtainium installed, but I didn’t fully understand it and the link I put there didn’t work.

I couldn’t find the Molly app in the F-Droid repository. And I don’t know if Molly will sync with the Signal I have on my PC and iPad.

I just download the newest version of Signal from their official page and instal through Mudita center. But it’s quite often, about 1x a month. Maybe I’ll try the Aurora store. Thank You

See the link above. You need to add the Molly repository to f-droid. And yes, it syncs.
