I like the Mudita Compact and the idea of a silent smartphone. I connect it with my Pepple smartwatch, so that no sound or vibration from the phone is necessary.
There are some flaws regarding missing configuration options:
On the smartwatch I receive messages about settings, that I cannot turn off or change:
2 GB limit of the mobile network - every 10 MB a new message
20% limit of the battery - every percent a new message
Another setting I miss:
PIN of the SIM card - no change is possible
Is there an app, that makes the missing settings on the phone visible ? Or will the new version of the OS fix that anyway ?
@headcrash I just want to make sure I understand what youâre asking about. Are you looking to access the Android settings that arenât available in Kompaktâs settings menu?
Are you getting these messages about network usage on your Mudita Kompakt as well?
If you want to change the SIM pin, our team also confirmed that dialing this works:
That MMI dialling code is incorrect. In truth itâs:
**04*OLDPIN*NEWPIN*NEWPIN#
To change your SIM PIN from â1234â to â1111â, for example:
**04*1234*1111*1111#
It is baffling why Mudita hasnât provided a more convenient tool to perform this operation. Itâs fiddly nature is proven by how difficult it is for the Mudita team, who allegedly confirmed that the incorrect code works, to get it right on a community forum.
Thank you, Urszula and Ocelot, for the tip how to change the pin. May be it would be more useful to have the possibility within the GUI settings-dialogue.
In genereal I posted the message to warn you, that some android features are hidden, but still active. Without a smartwatch, you will not realize it - but the messages are there and the frequency of their repetition is not normal. So in order to calm down the brabble of the phone, I would like to reset the counter of the network-traffic and shut up the battery-warnings after each percent that is under 20%.
I got these messages too and was able to change/disable them both. You will need to install the app âActivity managerâ first before you can reach these settings.
After installing the app, open it, search âsettingsâ and choose âcom.android.settingsâ.
Then, for the battery percentage message:
Search âbatteryâ and choose âSettings$BatterySaverSettingsActivityâ (there are two, either will work). Here, you can lower the percentage to at least 5% (you might have to choose âset a scheduleâ first to reach these settings), so that now you will only receive a message if your battery drops below the percentage set by you. The red LED light at the front will also not light up until you reach this percentage. I think choosing âNo scheduleâ means you will never get a battery percentage warning message, but I havenât tried that yet so Iâm not sure. Edit: I tried this, and the LED lit up again when my battery percentage dropped below 20%, so this doesnât work but enabling âUse a scheduleâ and lowering the limit does work!
For the 2GB limit of the mobile network:
Again, in Settings, search âDataâ and choose âSettings$DataUsageSummaryActivityâ. Scroll down and choose âData warning & limitâ. Here you can either disable the warning messages or set a new limit for the data warning.
Hope this helps!
Edit: it just occured to me that Activity Manager might be able to change/disable the SIM pin, so I went to check. Turns out you can!
Again in âcom.android.settingsâ, search âSIMâ and choose âSettings$IccLockSettingsActivityâ. Here you can either disable the SIM pin or change it.
