Android Mudita OS K app icon templates

Hi,
I’m developing a WebView application in Android Studio to request ride share pickups. I am specifically targeting the Mudita Kompakt.

Are you able to provide icon templates for me, so I can create a nice looking icon to match the built-in applications. The outer border has been tricky to replicate. Any tips on aliasing for the content would be welcome too.

.PNG .SVG or .AI files would be awesome

Here is the icon file I extracted from the maps app. Hope it’s helpful!

Looks like the forum software has compressed it a little. Let me know if you need the original and/or the icon from a different app and I’ll see if I can grab it.

@ghostman I’ve passed on your request to @Tomasz our UX Design Lead (Kompakt). He said he’ll jump on here when he gets a chance.

Do you know if this icon is also available as SVG somewhere in the app package? That would be really helpful to try and mimic the style of Mudita OS K for sideloaded apps.

Edit: here’s what I managed to do with Inkscape for WhatsApp

Looks great! I did try repackaging the .apk files using alternative icons to match - it works well with herewego maps. I don’t think it works with whatsapp though due to some anti-tampering mechanisms they use.

Hopefully one day Mudita will give us a way to override the icons of sideloaded apps - that would be amazing!

I’ve noticed that the border for the Maps application is actually ever so slightly thicker than the other apps. A bug I guess, a very small one haha.

Ah, I see you’re a man of culture as well.

@ghostman It’s so cool to hear you’re developing something with Kompakt in mind!

Our icons are built a bit asymmetrically because of the way our launcher’s grid layout is made and a few other technicalities.
They are originally (mdpi): 81 px x 81 px, with a 40 px x 40 px symbol inside, using a stroke weight of 2.5 px. The stroke of the main, square border is set to “inside” and has a 19 px corner radius.

Hope that helps and can’t wait to see what you’re up to!

PS. Fun fact — by the end of the year, we’re planning to publish the full documentation of our Mudita design system for E-Ink screens.

Any chance we get access to the display controller without root, so that we can call the display modes we want for our own apps?

Or at least are you guys going to implement E-ink modes in Mudita OS K ?

Amazing! I love the e-ink screen aesthetic you are all building. Simple and modern and really fits the constraints of e-ink well. I’m looking forward to seeing this whenever it comes out.

Thanks for that. I’ve made a cute little vector logo for my app now.

I really didn’t want to side load a web browser on my device, but I often use Uber to get home late at night. I figured a restricted WebView app would work for me, so I made it.

Take a look if you like. I’ve released what I have made so far. Very (VERY) basic at the moment, but it does what I need it to do for now, and it has a nice icon. Will keep working on it for fun and to learn Android app development.

Planned improvements will be either a menu system with more choice of companies, or multiple releases pointing to different companies web interfaces. I’m also still learning the ropes of how the back button functions, so I’ll sort that at some stage too.

Thank you for developing this app. It will be very convenient during my next trips in big cities.

I don’t want to sideload a web browser (and a app store) on my phone either.
