Today my buddy and I where on a alpin road and suddenly a mount.
I’m ok with that, it cost a lot to maintain does roads for a minority of user.
But, instead of the coin automatic from before, now, there’s a QR code that forwards you to Park&Pay.
That means that without a smartphone you can’t go any further.
So that will be great if the MK could scan a QR code and open an ad hoc app.
Are you not able to sideload park and pay onto your Kompakt?
Haven’t tried now.
Have tried to scan a QR with the camera and nothing happens so…
Such things piss me off so much. The other day I wanted to rent a bike in Toulouse, I only had my credit card. Well I could not, because you need a stupid app on the phone… app for this city and this parking, that town and that parking etc… tiring. Just let us use good ol’ CB… !
I did this in Sweden with one of their parking apps. Fortunately- I was able to check that most simple one that is not too complicated.
And the app can take the QR code?
I would say the ability to read QR codes moreso comes from the specific App you are using, rather than the hardware camera itself. So in theory any camera at all could be used to scan a QR code, but if the software doesn’t support QR code scanning, then it won’t work. The stock Mudita OS K Camera App does not support QR code scanning to my knowledge, however, if you sideload an app that does (Pay to Park, any other open source camera app, etc.) then it should work just fine. Try sideloading a different camera app or whatever app you need for parking and you should find the ability to scan a QR code. Hopefully that works!
Have you had success with park and pay app? Mine isn’t able to load properly.
@shadock The app I used didn’t scan QR codes- it was actually quite simple, you put in your Car plate number and the code of the street section( they were numbered) where you were parking, as well as how long you wanted to park.
Ah thanks.
Have to take a look.
Which park and pay app? PayByPhone works.
The Swiss one Park&Pay
FYI- EasyPark in Denmark & Sweden does not work on Kompakt because it uses GoogleServices
Thanks. I will install it and try, best way to know.
@shadock If you’re ok with sideloading, I myself use this app:
Thanks but have to see if it work with Park&Pay.
So tested today.
Park&Pay opened the camera but nothing append with the QR code. Anyway, it work without. I can live so.
I choose not to think of this problem as “what can’t my device do?” but as “why should I need a device to do this?” This is something that needs political action to change. More and more public services are restricting access based on whether you carry a trackable smart device with you. There’s hardly any freedom of movement left, and people need to push back on this assumption that everyone wants or needs a smartphone. There are multiple reasons why someone may not have a QR code-compatible device connected to payment options. Religion, security, privacy, lifestyle, and digital addiction. These are all valid reasons, and services should be made accessible to all people without the need to purchase an expensive device. Payment for these services was perfectly functional before smart devices, and it should remain so.
Because everything that’s labeled as “smart” is a surveillance device.
Totally agree!
