A Park Ranger's Experience with the Kompakt

I have had the Mudita Kompakt for two months now, and thought I’d share my experience as someone who spends a lot of time outside in the dirt. I work as a park ranger in Arizona, USA and have been loving the Kompakt so far!

I have side loaded a few apps via the Aurora Store: Brave internet browser, a QR code scanner, and Gaia GPS. I use Gaia GPS to navigate hiking & backpacking trails and make sure I am headed the right way. I did not expect to have this functionality on the Kompakt, but Gaia is working very reliably and the display on the e-ink screen is very nice. With such a long battery life, the Kompakt is a really nice tool to have when hiking, camping, or backpacking without access to electricity. The e-ink screen is great in full sunlight, and I can easily view the screen while wearing sunglasses. Huge fan of the screen. On average, I use 15% of the battery every 24 hours, which I find pretty amazing!

I am curious if anyone else has used Gaia or similar apps/tools for outdoor use. Other than Gaia, Brave (which I don’t use too often but is nice to have), and a QR code scanner, I’ve stayed within the Mudita provided apps and OS system. Thanks Mudita for a great product!
