I just got my Kompakt. I was looking around on it to try to find how to switch the default calling app, so that if I clicked a contact, it would open my third-party calling app (in this case, that is Cheogram). It would just be nice to have that option. In that case, it may be a good idea to actually separate the Phone app from the Contacts list to facilitate that.
Or, maybe even the option to just remove the icons for the phone and SMS apps from the home screen and replace them with the icon for Cheogram. That would just be nice for the sake of convenience. Other than that, less than a day in, and I’m pretty happy with this phone!

@catscientist It is actually possible to change the default dialer, and in fact on my Kompakt it is Google Phone (a choice I made to gain swipe to answer to help avoid accidentaly picking up a call in my pocket). However, I do like the clear view of the Mudita Contacts app, so I have kept it on my phone. When I click to call someone using the Contacts app, it calls them using the Google Phone app.
After looking up Cheogram, my guess is that Android does not recognize it as a dialer and does not then allow you to use it as a replacement to the default dialer. This would be a fault in Cheogram and not in Kompakt’s OS.
I don’t believe the kind of edits to the launcher you’re looking for will be available in any upcoming updates, so you may want to try replacing the launcher with inkOS (although you may be able to turn off the phone and SMS icon in Settings → App Layout, I can’t remember if those two apps have a switch, I definitely know you can’t replace them with anything). Check out the great work being done here: inkOS v0.2 UPDATE - Text Based Launcher with Notifications.
