OMG- I saw this on YouTube & I’m super intrigued:
I think this is such a nifty idea. I wonder if it would work with KOMPAKT vis Bluetooth.

“Brings back the nostalgia of landlines” - bro, just buy an actual landline.
Even more, Opis Technology in Germany manufactures oldschool landline phones with wood and brass
Exactly. An actual landline is relatively secure. As soon as you connect it to a smartphone, you could as well just use the smartphone without the landline.
It would be so nice if landlines were back and smartphone were banned. Then people would be running around like headless chicken. Or maybe they would try to constantly stare at their landline phone, dragging a 50km cable behind them. ![]()
That’s what I did. 3-4 bucks a month for unlimited calls all across the country, and landline calls in EU.
It seems easier now to hand over some “VIP” contacts to know the landline phone number, rather than trying to clean up mobile number from all the online stores/spam databases.
But I made that move mostly for my kids to be able to get in touch when they’re home alone.
Landlines are kind of expensive in Canada! You can maybe get a deal if you bundle it with internet, but then you’re tied to the big (expensive) internet providers. You can get a cheap VOIP line, but then if your internet goes down, it doesn’t work… I want a landline for my kid but the cheapest way to go might actually be getting a basic plan for a nokia phone, just have that at home.
Gotcha. So here in my place it’s slightly cheaper than a cheap monthly plan for a mobile phone. I have it bundled with Internet indeed, but I spoke to the ISP I have Internet access from. The phone is powered from the modem so as soon as I get an UPS, the fiber does its job even if all else at home is not operational.
