I was going to post this about music apps elsewhere but i think it’s its own topic.
Mudita Kompakt phones as delivered do not need internet to work for basic functions, but they require it for modern smart features. Kompakt phones can make cellular calls, send SMS texts, use the camera, and run pre-installed apps without Wi-Fi or data. A person can copy music files into the Kompakt folder and use the music app for listening to their music, without internet.
I am sorry, I should clarify for some who may not understand, an internet connected device (via Wi-Fi or cellular data) is necessary for music streaming, web browsing, emails, social media, app updates, and cloud services.
I think it would be good to have categories of sideloaded or add on apps, enhancements or utilities, for the Kompakt phone, those that can run as without internet connection and those that require internet to run. Maybe something like this already exists?
No, I would like to know in advance if they stand-alone offline or require an internet connection. I don’t really need any internet apps on the phone. I don’t want internet apps on the phone. I don’t need internet or wifi on the phone most of the time.
The programs that come preinstalled on the Kompakt could use some improvement - if there are alternatives to consider please let me know if they require an internet connection or not.
See this page - many of these apps don’t require an internet connection. You’ll have to be more specific about what kinds of apps you want if you want recommendations.
Most of the Kompakt’s apps can work fully offline, but the Weather app is an exception. To provide you with the most accurate, up-to-date forecast available, it needs to download new data regularly.
Naturally, it will only do so when a connection is available. If you prefer to keep your phone offline most of the time, the Weather app will stay offline as well. Only when you choose to connect will it download any new data.
Whenever you do need to check the weather data, you can briefly allow the phone to go online, then disconnect again once the information is available. This way you can stay offline for most of the time and maintain full control of when any weather information is being accessed. It will also prevent the data from constantly updating on its own.
