Waze is an open-source navigation app that alerts you to problems on the road like accidents, cops, or other hazards. I’ve found that it works very well on my Mudita! The map is clear to see, even on e-ink. Everything loads quickly, and it has never crashed. I occasionally have trouble connecting spotify to waze, but I honestly don’t think that is because of my Mudita phone, probably just user error on my end. I like the offline map app, but I usually use waze because I find it easier to search for my destination with waze.
I only give it 4 stars because it has a tendency to lag on the Kompakt, and lately (despite having Battery Optimization and Duraspeed disabled for it), it’ll still crash when in the background if I switch apps to do something like choose a new podcast episode.
However, I particularly like on hiding the map and only seeing the list of directions and listening to the next steps.
I think it is the best option out there for nav on the MK. Still, it has some issues. Usually the directions are clear enough to read, but when navigating on highways, the black on green (I think?) text of the name of the highway or the exit to take is hard to read. When navigating on local roads, the same background isn’t used, so there’s no issues. Overall not my favorite but works in a pinch.
I have the same problem. Not sure if I’m just not installing it correctly? Unlike other APKs, there were four files in a zip when I downloaded the file and I could only get one of the four to install, but then I got the splash screen as described by Little-User
