Update button does not work

Apologies if this has been brought up elsewhere. I am trying to update my Kompakt, but nothing happens when I click the actual “update” button. Everything else seems to work fine. I have wifi and it’s checking for the update (and tells me there is one) and I have the latest updated Mudita Center, but I cannot update. I have tried restarting the phone. Any help would be appreciated.

Dear @mrphens,

  1. Question - are you trying to update a new Kompakt phone to the current Mudita OS version? Obviously, that’s a yes.
  2. Do you have an activated SIM card in the phone?
  3. if you have a USB cable connected to the phone. remove it. The Mudita Center isnt necessary for updating the OS via wifi

If you do use the Mudita Center connection. be sure the USB cable supports data, some cables only charge,
Updating via Desktop (Mudita Center)

You can also update your device using your computer via the Mudita Center Application: [1]

  1. Download and open the Mudita Center on your computer.
  2. Connect your Mudita Kompakt to your computer using the USB-C cable.
  3. Once the device is recognized, go to the Overview section and click Check for Updates.
  4. If a new OS version is available, click Download Now or Update Now and keep the phone plugged in until the process finishes. [1]

You can contact Mudita support also, they are very responsive and helpful, the link is above

Unfortunately, none of the suggestions help. I do not have a SIM in the phone right now, but I didn’t last time I updated either (this isn’t my first update as I’ve had the phone from the beginning).
There is no Download now or Update now in Mudita Center; just instructions on how to do it on the phone, which I can’t do due to the aforementioned “Update” button on the Software Update section on the phone not responding (almost as if it’s ghosted out).

Also, the only “support” link I see takes me to a page with Kowledge base on it but nowhere to actually contact somebody.
EDIT: I see the Submit Ticket now. I’ll try that

It looks like your wifi might not be on?

Upper left, icon for wifi on…

What yours shows, wifi off, in the picture you attached, but maybe when you tried you had it on?

“Update” button on the Software Update section on the phone not responding (almost as if it’s ghosted out) I think it would be nice if a screen pop up told you that WiFi isn’t connected :sunny:

The WiFi is on…I checked it and it say it’s on but “limited connectivity “, which I don’t understand because it’s enough WiFi to tell me an update is ready and I can refresh (check for updates).(if I turn off WiFi there is a pop up that tells me).

I tried restarting the phone to see if the WiFi would come on stronger, but it’s the same icon. All my other devices are fine on the WiFi. I also tried connecting to my iPhone hotspot instead of my home WiFi and I get the same result(connected but with limited connectivity )

Have you tried “forget network” option on the Kompakt, then reconnect to WiFi?
I hope Mudita support helps you soon, maybe someone else has an idea.

Google says: A “limited connection” warning on Android means your phone connects to the router but cannot access the internet. Also says inaccurate time settings can affect communication with the router, and more, DNS settings…

I had tried the “forget network “ thing (didn’t change anything)……but….your comment about the time sparked something. I looked and noticed that the time was wrong (something that seems to happen when I don’t use the Kompakt for a period of months; at least it’s happened once before). Once I changed that in settings and restarted, the WIfi came on as normal. Downloading the update as we speak! You are a genius.

Resolved, good, thank Google

Your phone’s date and time was likely incorrect because the “automatic time” feature lost sync with your mobile carrier or GPS.
