Several times now, I have experienced an issue where I hear the notification sound for an incoming message, but no message actually appears on my phone.
Today, I was waiting for a group SMS (our teacher was sending parents updates about the return time from a school trip). The first message was received without any problem. However, about two hours later, when the teacher sent another message, I heard the notification sound again, but no message appeared. Instead, an unread message indicator appeared on the home screen icon.
The message cannot be opened because it isn’t visible anywhere, even though I’m certain it was sent to me and it’s listed in the notification.
Could you please advise whether this issue can be resolved? It seems that group SMS messages are still causing problems. Is there a fix planned in an upcoming software update to improve how the phone handles these messages? Also, what is the recommended way to remove the “stuck” notification when the message itself cannot be viewed?
I have experienced similar situations, but instead of a notification sound (I’ve turned them off) my Kompakt vibrates, but no message is shown. This usually happens when I switch the Kompakt on. Then it vibrates once because of being switched on, and then again as if a new message arrived, but there is nothing there.
Try removing any blocked numbers. This fixed it for our phones. There seems to be a bug with the blocking numbers for texting feature that has been around since the original software load. It is disappointing that easy fixes like this have not been added in the subsequent updates.
If I remove the blocked numbers (which are spammers and fraudsters), I will get those spam SMS again So that’s not a good solution. Mudita should finally fix this blocking function.
I will ask the team to confirm, but I suspect that this is happening because Mudita Kompakt does not fully support group messages yet. That feature will be implemented in the next update.
@YYZ - I also have the same problem with incoming messages after switching the Mudita on. @andrewh - thanks, I have tried this method, but the notifications still remained, and the problem started even before I had any numbers blocked. @urszula - great, thank you, I think it is a big problem, so I hope it will be fixed and looking forward to next update.
Also what I noticed, the phone just gives you a notification when someone likes your WhatsApp status. For me this was confusing the first times as I was expecting some new messages, but there were none.
If you’re not advsere to sideloading apps, I’d recommend installing an SMS app until Mudita officially supports group messaging (personally, I like NextSMS, but otherwise I can highly recommend Fossify).
In addition, an app like NotificationLog will enable you to check what those dings are for (mine was dinging everytime I turned it on because of the SD card).
