Unable to receive texts after turning off Offline+

Hello all,

I got my Kompact up and running last week, and up until today, everything has been great! I cancelled my previous service, turned off iMessage and RCS, and for a week the phone was working perfectly. I could send and receive calls and texts without issue. Then I tried Offline+ for the first time today, and when I turned it back on, I realized I was unable to receive text messages. I can send texts, I can make phone calls, and I can receive phone calls. I just can’t get any texts at all and it has been this way all day.

I reached out to my provider and they did some resets on their end and confirmed that my APN settings were fine, as far as they could tell. I also have taken out my SIM card and put it back in. I have tried to receive texts both off and on Wi-Fi… No luck. I made a ticket to Mudita but that takes time to be resolved, so I was wondering if anyone else here has had this issue or could help.

@NewLeif This is quite interesting & unusual. I think the best thing to do would be to contact our support.
They will probably need to request your logs to see what happened behind the scenes for this to occur. Something changed. They can be reached via email at [email protected] or, alternatively, you can submit a support request/support ticket directly on our website:

Hello urszula,

Thank you for your response. Yes, I mentioned that I had made a ticket with support, and they got back to me just recently which is great. However none of their suggestions worked (though we have only corresponded via one email so far; I am sure we will try more options). I have created custom APNs, had my carrier reset my connections multiple times, removed and reinserted the SIM into different slots, and even gone into the phone’s hidden settings to look at the phone’s internal structure. to see where the issue may be, and everything seems to look fine. Side loaded apps do not help and demonstrate it is not just the stock SMS app failing to display messages, they just are not coming through. I guess my last resort is to factory reset the phone.

I am confident that they will be able to pinpoint the issue. When they do, please let us know. I am super curious as to what happened.

Hi @urszula, thanks for following up. I have been talking with the team via email for a few days and investigating with them. Hopefully we come to a conclusion soon that could help others with SMS problems. I will make a larger update post on this same thread once we figure it out! In the meantime, though, I have had to completely switch carriers (as Noble Mobile told me they couldn’t help me anymore) and switch back to my iPhone, which is very sad…but just temporarily! I want to switch back to my Kompakt once things are fixed. It’s weird how physically large and artificial my iPhone feels now, even only having used the Kompakt for a week. I genuinely miss the e-ink screen, no pop-ups, no chaos.

I wanted to ask you, do you know of any potential fixes to SMS or general connectivity/quality with 1.6 or 2.0? I ask because I was wondering if it would be wise for me to deactivate my iPhone and return my Kompakt again after either of these updates to have a better chance at things going smoothly after some quality-of-life updates.

I also wanted to as you, if you don’t mind a more unrelated question real quick, :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: if you know if the “Phone” and “SMS” apps will be able to be moved off and reorganized to a different position on the home screen with upcoming updates. In the 2.0 promo pictures, “Phone” and “SMS” are always the first two options on both the standard and Kalm launcher. I was wondering if those will be able to be moved. (Example: On the home screen, Phone and SMS not being present at all, instead placed in the “more apps” section, where things like Alarm and Calendar are.)

With the Kalm launcher, you’ll be able to customize your home screen. Right now, this is the only option in the standard launcher:

Are you asking if with the Kalm Launcher, you can remove them? Or replace them with something else?
I’ll have to ask the team about that.

Yes, exactly, I was wondering if they could be removed and replaced with something else. I am wondering if the update would allow us to do that for both the standard and/or Kalm launcher. Say if you use Whatsapp for phone calls only or Fossify for SMS, and want to replace each one respectively. No rush, just curious.

I’ve asked the team about this. It does make sense if you use different apps for these functions.
