You may have a point there, if you are using Google drive, or one drive I’d expect there to be a high probability of that being the case. I hadn’t thought of that.

Agreed predictive / analytical AI is a tool used for searching vast datasets or making suggestions, and generative AI is used for creating from a descriptive prompt.
I have no problem with predictive AI as it can save a lot of time doing laborious boring tasks, although it can often be inaccurate and needs to be checked by someone who fully understands the subject.
Generative AI is where I have a problem, as it tries to pass of something that has been manipulated or generated by a computer as something that has been created by a human.
Coding and software development is an industry that will soon become completely obsolete bar for a handful of people who will write the prompts and check some of the code, whilst they can still understand it.
If I had a child at school I would tell them not to bother learning to write computer programming, it was once a safe bet, but I seriously doubt that there will be any demand in the near future.

I hear the fear in some people about AI. I doubt everything your child needs will come in a pill, everything he thinks, does or says won’t come in a pill he takes each day.

Not really sure what point you’re trying to make here, no one mentioned a wonder pill. I don’t fear AI personally. I hate what it’s already doing to people, take a look on YouTube it’s absolutely flooded with fake AI music, with fake AI videos, some are posting thousands of videos, if you might be happy for real musicians to be pushed out of the industry, but I’m certainly not. What you can hear in some people, is exasperation at lazy or gullible people who can’t see, or don’t care, the damage AI is doing to the creative side of humanity .
If we are comparing fantasy to reality, if someone told me 20 years ago that every supermarket, high street, shopping mall , atm, home TV, major road and modern car would have a camera recording people without their consent, many feeding into AI systems I would have laughed, but thats exactly where we are today

After reading all of these post in this discussion, I’d like to add my own two cents and echo much of what @BartekFilipek & @Michal_Kicinski has already shared.
I completely understand why seeing an AI disclosure prompted such a strong response, particularly within a community that values a more thoughtful and cautious relationship with technology. Concerns about environmental impact, the future of creative work, and preserving a genuine human touch are valid.
At the same time, like Michal mentioned, I also, personally, don’t see every use of AI as being the same. I recently watched a video about the final photographs taken inside the WTC on the night before 9/11. The original photographs, taken by Konstantin Petrov, were carefully transformed into moving scenes using AI. The movement was reconstructed, but the places, photographs, and human story were real. I found it incredibly moving. Used transparently and respectfully, the technology helped bring people closer to an important historical archive without replacing the person who created it.
Of course, a historical reconstruction and a marketing image are not equivalent. I only mention it because it made me consider how much context, purpose, and execution matter. There’s a meaningful difference between using AI as an assistive tool under human direction and using it carelessly to replace human creativity, mislead an audience, or manufacture something without substance.
As Bartek explained, our images are still created, reviewed, and approved by Mudita’s designers. The creative decisions, judgment, and responsibility remain with people. When AI has played a meaningful role, we disclose it because we believe transparency is the right approach.
I don’t expect that explanation to change everyone’s feelings about AI, nor would I want to talk anyone out of their concerns. I only want to add that our approach is not based on an uncritical embrace of AI or a desire to remove the human element. Like many people, we are navigating an evolving set of tools and trying to do so thoughtfully, transparently, and with human responsibility at the center.

Indeed analytical AI has its uses as I mentioned in my previous comment. I can see why Mudita chose to use AI to enhance images on the website, but I would personally rather see less polished images.
whilst the video you posted is interesting, I don’t really see that AI added anything to the story, that the slideshow of the original photograph didn’t, as as soon as you hear they have been enhanced by AI to make a video, to me they somehow loose some authenticity and become less meaningful .
In a world full of fakery many people are looking for something genuine and real.

I appreciate you saying this and one of the things that I genuinely appreciate about the Mudita Community is that we are very understanding of one another in how each of us uses technology, without judgement.
I can totally see your side of the story (when it comes to the pictures) however, I also appreciated that when they turned the photos to video, the photographer’s story wasn’t lost. It was just a different way to look at the work.
A few years back, I visited a Live Van Gogh Exhibit : The Immersive Experience in Warsaw and yeah, maybe it’s not a necessary way to experience Van Gogh’s art, but it was still pretty cool and I’m glad I went.

I would personally rather see less polished images.
I think this is what most of us are trying to convey @urszula @Michal_Kicinski @BartekFilipek.
The use of AI for image enhancement, etc. by Mudita is like finding out what you thought was a Michelin-starred restaurant is using canned pasta sauce and microwaving your food. We’d rather that care and craft went into things, even if the final product is a bit rougher or takes longer. That’s why we sat down at the table to begin with.
These practices are off-putting to your clientele.

That’s why, if you don’t want to self host, I would advise Proton Drive, Tresorit or Ente for photos. All those solutions encrypt your files on your devices such that the provider may not access them even if they want.
Partenering with one of those to offer a Mudita branded solution might be technically very interesting (all those apps are already working fine on the Kompakt). I don’t know if it would be financially worth the trouble.

I’m very much against the over-reliance on AI and absolutely hate AI generated images and text, but agree the blanket ‘everything AI has touched’ statements are misguided.
If you’ve used a navigation or translation app/website in the past few years then you’ve almost certainly used AI.
I interview a lot of people for my job and using AI to transcribe the interview has saved me so much time and removed a mind-numbing task. Of course I do listen to the recording to make sure any quotes used are correct.
