No voicemail notification on MK?

Regarding the VM issue- we’re on it. Our engineering team is treating this as a high-priority issue and is working to develop a solution that will restore this functionality for all our users. While I cannot provide a specific timeline for a fix right now, please be assured that we are committed to resolving this.
In the meantime, the most reliable way to ensure you don’t miss any messages is to periodically check your voicemail manually. You can typically do this by dialing 1 or your own phone number from your device.
We have logged your report and will make sure to announce any updates on this matter as they become available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this.

@urszula Sorry to duplicate commentary on this discussion. I think we’ve exchanged comments on a thread relating to release 1.2 on voicemail indicators and you mentioned that Flash SMS is part of this release. As per that comment, I tested this and even though I use a carrier that supports Flash SMS, I never received a VM notification of any kind. I only received indications of a missed call (which is not the same thing – people might call and not leave a VM). But my reading of your comment on this specific VM thread leads me to understand that VM indicator support is still outstanding. That’s an accurate summary of the position, isn’t it? I just wanted to clarify in case anyone is thread-hopping and gets muddled (like me).

Thanks.

Thanks @urszula. I use Lebara Mobile (a MVNO that uses Vodafone’s infrastructure). Vodafone do support Flash SMS, but on my testing, when someone calls and leaves a voicemail, I receive receive 2 prominent indicators:

(1) in the centre of the screen: “1 missed call”.
(2) A count i.e. 1 appears on the phone app icon.

There is no indication of a voicemail at all.

Disappointing.

If any other users can test this voicemail indicator (that uses Flash SMS), I’d be grateful.

Have you used this network previously and you received Voice Mail notifications?
We did some research and it seems to us that Lebara doesn’t send any alerts, neither SMS nor visual voicemail, when a new message is left. What’s even more odd, some users get the SMS Voice mail option when the call 121 and go through the mailbox settings, while others don’t.
It was kind of odd for me to hear, but then I went on Reddit & started asking LabaraUK users

Did voice mail notifications work for you before?

@urszula, thanks for looking into this. Yes, I receive voicemail notifications on Lebara using my iPhone fine. See attached image. (It’a a horribly grainy photo taken on MK, but you can just make out the voicemail indicator. Tap that and it dials voicemail.) This voicemail test was done today.

Also, that Reddit discussion about Lebara seems to concern Visual Voicemail, not standard voicemail.

Hi @petemeister and @urszula. I believe my carrier, Free mobile (France) also supports Flash SMS, but I am not 100% sure (based on my research Free mobile converts Flash SMS to “normal” SMS before delivering them) and I also don’t receive anything on my MK when someone leaves me a voicemail. I do receive a notification on my Samsung Playerstar (which runs some old samsung OS).

@petemeister & @mobl Thank you so much for this feedback. We are back on it.

I have had the Mudita Kompakt for several weeks. And I am unable to Check Voicemail. I also receive no indication if a Voicemail has been left for me. This is very confusing. I’m a low tech person. I would like to be able to receive my voicemails. I have Verizon as a service provider. But with every phone I have ever owned there is a symbol or indication that someone has left a voicemail and you click to get your voicemail. It is very confusing.

@karin Welcome to the Mudita Forum & thank you for reaching out. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing problems. Let’s see if we can get this figured out for you.
What network carrier do you use? How were you checking Voice Mail on your previous phone?

Karin mentioned Verizon as the provider and it sounds like the same issue as previously reported e.g. the MK does not give any indication when a caller has left a VM.

Hi Karin! I just posted this on another thread, but I would highly recommend for people used to visual notifications to sideload another notifications app such as One Shade. One Shade also calls your voicemail when you open that notification, which is nice. Although these sideloaded notifications apps open up a rabbit hole, and take away from the look and minimalism of Mudita’s system, they are pretty necessary for those of us who need to know when someone left a voicemail. The good news is that Mudita has put voicemail notifications on their roadmap in the future, but it may take some time to get to. In the meantime there are other options people have done such as adding a contact for their voicemail # (sometimes that’s your own phone number), and then favoriting that contact so it’s quick and easy to check. Hope that helps!

It is very common in the U.S. that voicemails are indicated by a notification at the top of the screen. Or on the lock screen as well. The Mudita Kompakt is the first phone that I have ever had that cannot get voicemail notifications. I am including brick cellphones when they first started having screens. No other phone failed to provide voicemail notifications except the Mudita Kompakt. Not only that but it can’t send or receive pictures in text. Everything else is ok, more or less. Sometimes.

@Freedom Our team is aware of this. It’s on the Mudita Kompakt Roadmap for implementation.

OK. more or less. Sometimes.

That’s either the review of the era or the title of a polemic for the age.
