Most people on this planet have voted by their choices and actions that they don’t recognize privacy as a value and a Right they willing to defend - since we (almost) don’t have any left.

You can de-Microsoft and de-Google your hardware use VPN’s and encrypted messaging aps - but it’s more likely that people you communicating with will never do it - and probably even use one of the 3rd party virtual keyboards that in fact work as keyloggers - leaving the doors wide open - and in fact, undoing all your work.
Privacy has sadly become a privilege of few who are willing to earn it thru education and hard work.

But hey, don’t let the masses discourage you from doing what’s right. At the end of the day you can only control yourself even if, to paraphrase the classic, everybody else: “mind is free for rent to any god or government”.

Agree to the whole post. Out of 100 people I talk to, maybe 1 or 2 are willing or even wanting to defend their privacy.

Thank god that at least most of those immoral fools wear clothes

Some good news! The “chat control” law has been rejected, for now anyway, mainly thanks to Germany and countless privacy NGO’s.
However, that doesn’t make security holes in Android disappear. It just means that client-side scanning is off the table for now.

Once again the EU wants to “ease” privacy rules. They just won’t stop their surveillance agenda :frowning: Privacy NGO’s are already alerted.

personally I think its worth drawing a line in the sand, and if friends and colleagues dont wish to follow or change to maintain contact, then so be it.
before I got my Kompakt I was running a graphene os Pixel, when I first installed it, I made everyone aware that I was changing to Signal, and would no longer respond to whatsapp messages, some said they did’nt want to install another messaging app,. So i said fine either call me or dont bother, some said they werent sure how to install it, and I have helped them, set it up and they continue to contact me, just as the did before.

I became really aware of threats to our privacy, and decided to take action, for my own privacy, about a year ago. Ive found it be quite a liberating journey, Ive lost a few people along the way, but the way I see it, they weren’t an important part of my life, if they were not prepared to compromise to stay in touch.
one thing I have learned, is that you must be prepared to let go of some of the convenience that goes with having a compromised privacy footprint. I find myself making a lot more voice calls, than I used to, I rarely use the internet, when Im away from my pc, and my Kompakt has a fraction of the apps my iphone had, when I started this journey.
I really hope Mudita keep up the privacy focused mindset, and don’t cave to pressure by making the Kompkt a dumbed smartphone with an eink display
