Sometimes when I unlock my MK, it open on a setting screen, or a notification screen…
Have lived with that till now but today the screen was named « letters », came from an hidden app « notification » and shows Signal messages.
I have deleted Signal a long time ago now (I’m under InkOs) and can’t understand how this is possible. + concern for the battery, I had a message like « update background activated » something like that.
@shadock This is related to inkOS and it has always been there. The screen you saw is “Letters” which is defaulted to swiping Left on inkOS.
Letters is a notification window that caches notifications so you can read them later. Obviously since you haven’t cleared them it has cached Signal notifications (even though you deleted the app).
Longpress on the clear all button and it will clear them.
No this doesn’t affect battery life. The point of Letters is to be able to read notifications even after system deletes them, and you can read them extended (like long messages, emails).
You can disable it by going to:
inkOS notifications / Letters Window (toggle it off).
Or you can change the gesture in Settings / Gestures / Swipe Left (to disabled or to something else).
Strange thing is, it happens just after I couldn’t open Signal on my iPad. He wanted that I scan a QR code with my phone to keep it active on the iPad. Wich I can’t do. So I’ll live without Signal too.
I had first Signal on my Punkt MP02. Then on my MK and on my iPad. Deleted from my MK for battery life reasons for many months. And now, suddenly it doesn’t work anymore on my iPad.
It has a time-limit. I think it requires you to use your original device at least once every 14 days to keep using your linked device.
I think Signal is working on an update to be able to use the desktop version without a phone (still requires number to register) but you would be able to register it directly on Desktop without having to install it on a phone.
