Mudita & Me: Finding Joy in Intentional Tech (and clothing)

Quiet hums of calm,
tech and thread in gentle hands,
less is home again.

There’s something I find deeply satisfying about tech that does not demand your constant attention. I still suffer from iPhone ding PTSD. Just shudder at the thought of that horrible sound.

The Harmony 2 was my first foray into the Mudita ecosystem. I immediately fell in love with the e-ink display, but here’s a funny confession: it took me over a year to realize I could dim the e-ink screen brightness. (Yes, really! like yesterday) As I wondered why it took me so long to figure it out, it was reminder that even the most thoughtful tools have more to offer when you slow down enough to notice…or maybe I should have taken more time to read the instructions - kinda like the press 7 times to get the developer tool options. You don’t know unless you know.

Since then, my Mudita family has grown: the Kompakt, the powered by Jays earphones, even the organic shirt with its quiet “less” printed on the front. Each piece feels like a gentle nudge toward what matters: focus, presence, and the joy of doing more with less.

NB: I am not saying that I am good at this and have gone full Taoist. It does really help me be more intentional in my every day. Further, It’s not just about the devices; it’s about the philosophy as expressed by the brand’s name, Mudita - finding happiness in the good fortune of others.

And because I can’t resist, here’s why each piece of my Mudita family has my heart:

  • Kompakt: The e-ink screen is a dream, but that offline+ switch is pure magic, like a mini digital detox button.
  • Harmony: The power nap option is my secret weapon for stealing moments of calm in a busy day.
  • Earphones: Flat design means no knots (a miracle!) and sound so surprisingly and appreciatedly clear.
  • Shirt: “Less” isn’t just a word on fabric, it’s a daily reminder to breathe and that less is truly more.

So here’s to the tech that doesn’t just do more, but helps me be more. Mudita, you’ve got me hooked, one mindful feature at a time. I also have to thank the entire Mudita team for the transparency and genuinely listening to the community. As a NA Kompakt owner, I cannot wait for update vs 1.4.0 - group texts and music folders.
