Mudita marketing has a way of creating disappointment

Just received the mail that my “Kompakt just got Better. Update NOW”. But then it states the update comes next week. Such a sad way to click-bait your current user base into a disappointment. I notice a lot of the language from mudita being superficially marketing driven. I believe a good portion of the negative feedback would be at least downtoned if mudita would choose a more reality oriented way of communicating about its product. The way we use language shapes our reality, the mudita kompakt is for me phone designed to bring me back to the basics needed in live with out stressing myself. A professionally marketing approach would replicate such a back to the basics, not rushing approach in its language. Why not say some thing like: “Your Kompakt will improve soon! Update in your own time next week!” I am bringing this in because I very much like the device and want the company to succeed in the niche that is there for these products and it seems Mudita is still missing a coherent company ethos that spans across marketing and that is my view one of the key elements for succeeding with the highly sensitive audience they choose.

I totally agree. The marketing is ahead of the development of the product they are advertising.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the product, but in my eyes it’s not finished yet. So many basic functions are not stable enough and the development of them are being hindered by focus on music, meditiation, chess and lockscreens.

@tilmanbergt Thank you for pointing it out and so sorry for the miscommunication our mailing subject has caused. It was not intentional and definitely not meant as clickbait. Our intention was simply to let you know the update is coming next week, and we’ll make sure to express it more clearly moving forward. I’ll personally see to it.
@cricke on your point about priorities: we do closely monitor user feedback and factor it in when deciding development directions. Basic functions are very much included, and you can rest assured their stabilization is never postponed in favor of new features. Although it’s not realistic to eliminate every issue immediately, we’re committed to gradual improvements in every update. For example, the upcoming MuditaOS K 1.3.0 isn’t only about music - it also brings fixes such as:

  • refined sensitivity of the unlock button, and two modes of unlocking with a fingerprint scan,
  • passcode protection for factory reset,
  • improved SMS app stability (conversations with a large number of messages),
  • manual mobile network selection,
  • option to reconnect with known Bluetooth® devices.
Most of these were first brought up here, on the Forum - therefore, let me end this message with a thank you: for keeping us honest, finding areas to improve, and believing in Kompakt. We really appreciate it.
