Mudita Kompakt Photography Thread

yeah it can be really hard to get the subject in focus, but i do think that tapping the screen might do something?

Evening errands - taken using the kompakt. I used the key mapper apk to map both volume keys to launch the camera app. Not sure if there’s any kind of focus in the stock camera app lol.

Edit: later I found out that the volume key shortcut for camera conflicted with the page turns in koreader

I have to say, though, that none of the photos I took with the Kompakt were technically bad. Whenever a bad photo came out, I was always able to pinpoint the fault with the photographer (meaning me) and not with the camera.

After using the camera for a week, I’ve noticed the biggest issue is that it’s hard to get a steady hand and avoid blurry pictures, and it can’t deal with high contrast or really bright situations as it completely blows out the whites.

Here’s an example of an area with dappled light where the camera doesn’t work well for a quick snapshot, result is blurry with blown out whites:

It does best in bright indirect light. I got this good bug photo:

If you want something on hand to snapshot a moment, it’ll do, but I’m planning to eventually supplement my edc with a digital camera that has more capabilities.

That’s a good Idea I am thinking about putting my old LX5 on my EDC bag too. I did get the LP3 too and have found I like grabbing that instead if I know I might take some pictures.

Sometimes it does work very well, like this afternoon when I took a picture of our tractor with it. I knew the light was good, and the picture did not dissapoint.

I believe tapping on the subject does focus the photo. I think this because tapping on different areas of the screen causes the exposure to adjust.

That’s also how I think it works. Re: only the best pictures being posted here: yep, I do the same. Though I also think that the ones that didn’t turn out that well were mostly due to me since I still have to get used to taking digital photos without all the automatic enhancements that other smartphones do in the background. I like the learning experience though since it makes me more present when taking a photo

Here are some memories from Finland:

Random stuff incl. a batch of roe deer based bigos I made yesterday.

Sometimes I move my hand after tapping the button before I get the message about the photo got taken.

I took some photos, but not impressive. The photos reminds me my first camera phone of Nokia in the year 2005. Can’t this 8MP camera can’t work something like iPhone SE camera?

More pics! I enjoy playing with the MK camera and seeing how photos turn out on my computer. You have to have a steady hand and don’t move for up to 5 seconds AFTER you see the words “Photo Saved”. Patience required! Lol
Also works best in mid light, not too dark or light.
One thing I would like to see is being able to rotate photos in the app.

A few more unmodified pictures, trying to figure out a better way to focus but haven’t had much luck. about half my shots are out of focus. anyone has sideloaded a camera app that helps with the picture taking?

Although the camera is not great I keep in mind what Chase Jarvis said: “The best camera is the one you have with you”

great shots! how did you get the exposure on the last two so well balanced? I’m trying out the opencamera app and am noticed that it is very hard to get a well balanced shot as you can see in the following two examples.
