today I take my new Mudita Kompakt Phone.
After I setup my Wifi, language, PIN and fingerprint-presets I restart my Kompakt.
I’ll try to enter the phone, but it asking me to enter a 6 digit PIN instead of my saved 4 digit code.
Okay, looking into the Community here, find the post about factory reset, and try to perform a factory reset.
Pressing Vol.Up and Power together in various ways (after power down, while working etc.).
Entering Bootloader-Menu, choose “recovery mode”, entering by pressing "Vol.Down”, but my Kompakt is loading the normal environment without entering the Recovery Manager.
I don’t know which Version my Kompakt have.
Try the Mudita Center also to customize my new Mudita Clock, but can’t reach my Mudita Kompakt.
Is there a different way to perform factoryreset or updating to newest Mudita OS without factory reset?
…in the meanwhile:
I saw on Mudita’s GitHub Repositories a “Pure Updater” to proceed a factory reset by cable. which is probably for the older “Mudita Pure”-Phone?!
And again:
For PIN-Setup: Phone asking me only in Fingerprint-Setup to set a PIN, here I put only 4 Digits as my new PIN, which was accepted.
After my first restart, PIN prompting comes up (to connect with Mudita Center-App on my Computer).
Now, I’m without of any inspiration.
Your discribed Factory-Reset process doesn’t work for me
AND any available boot-option starts anytime the phone in regular way:
Select Boot Mode:
[VOLUME_UP to select. VOLUME_DOWN is OK.]
[Recovery Mode] <<==
[Fastboot Mode]
[Normal Mode]
By the way: I’m testing any stupid PINs (000000, 123456 etc.) to enter the phone - nothing works!
This part you have to be a bit patient, because in this part the screen refreshes very slow. So take up to 5 seconds to se if the <<== is on the correct line before you hit volume down.
2nd thing is Mudita doesn’t allow 4 digit pins for the phone. So that can’t be the case for the phone pin. (they force you to enter a 6 digit pin when you set up the pin).
thank you for your hints about the delay time of choosen Mode in Boot-Menu.
I entering this Boot-Menu a lot of times (maybe > 50 times) in all type of choose , also waiting more then 5 seconds after tipping VOLUME_UP-Button.
I understand the 6 Digit forcing function, but I never entering this PIN-Management with the known restrictions.
I only create new fingerprints and here I need to entering a new PIN, and here Mudita accepting 4 PIN digits and I’m not sure why!!!
In general I know about the dead android graphic, long before I switched to Apple 15 years ago .
But I never reach or saw this recovery mode “splash-screen”.
My Mudita booting up straight into the normal mode, after choosing recovery mode (on my side the same effect like choosing normal mode).
And again, I’m not sure why Mudita OS accepting my 4 digits PINs by creating new fingerprints, mmmh!
Many thanks for any tipps and hints to solve this issue
I informed/involved [email protected].
And I believe in Mudita!
I know about the hard way to resist any “big players” with most “popular” phones, here’s my vote for Mudita!
understand your point (completely), but I was also surprised about that PIN-Issue.
I’d never create a common pin in my Kompakt, never put a SIM-Card in there, because I planned to activate a new eSim … and could never enter my Kompakt again^^!
I only was asked by addingFingerprint-Dialog a new/my PIN (which is only my known 4 digit PIN ).
And never create a common PIN as I know to secure my Kompakt.
Hope my feedback gives you a better hint?
By the way, update: While Mudita is analysing root cause(s) ← thanks to all Mudita Devs/support guys, please pardon me for picking up this issue:
(sharing my video for transparency here with you/Mudita’s community)
Thanks to everyone who could give tips and hints here.
Also big thank to all guys from Mudita Devs help to find the root cause
I get it. I think in this case I would suggest that you reach out to our customer service for specific technical support. They will probably need to request your logs to see what happened behind the scenes for this to occur. They can be reached via email at [email protected] or, alternatively, you can submit a support request/support ticket directly on our website:
I send the damaged charge-screen (below) of my Kompakt to Mudita-support,
…and @urszula without (PIN) authentication = I have no logfile access when I connect the Kompakt to my Computer!
From both screens on this photo and the video you shared, do not match the images that appeared on my phone. So you either have an earlier build (pre 1.0.0) or you have a later one.
First thing I ever do on an android phone is go enable USB debugging before I setup anything
Good to know, thank you for your tip, I will remember it for next time.
Similar to that: I hanging in the early deays of Android, when I modify my first HTC/Google Nexus with custom OSs.
Today I’m feeling not crazy enough to mod again - have a good mood with the Mudita Kompakt but missing the Mudita Pure as a radical step back.
Nevertheless: switching to Mudita, because of my actual mobile digital overload and media notifications overall.
