Many groupchat problems - Can't start groupchat?

Hi there. I’ve had my Kompakt up and running for a couple days now, and I’ve found a few problems with the groupchat feature. I know it’s newer, but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t, and I can’t figure out the common denominator.

  • Biggest one, I can’t MAKE a groupchat

  • One iphone 12 user will send texts in a groupchat with me and 2 other iphone users. They can see it, but I can’t. She can, however, text me one on one (she has this problem with another different dumb phone user too though). The other 2 iphones can text me no problem in that groupchat

-HOWEVER. Those same two iphones made a NEW groupchat, that never showed up on my phone. So one messaging thread, they both message fine. But in a new thread, I never got even one of the seven or so messages.

  • I also missed messages sent from an android to my kompakt, and an iphone. They don’t show up at all. The groupchat just doesnt exist on the kompakt
  • In a successful groupchat (2 iphones) when I hit the little dots in the corner, and then hit (see participants) the SMS app crashes

The groupchat function is currently unreliable for me. Which is a huge bummer, because I really really want to switch to the kompakt as my full time device, but I’m very concerned over missing messages. I’m hoping some bug fixes can be rolled out pretty soon!

Anyone have similar issues? And possibly fixes on my or the other persons end?

I do want to add – ive never NOT been able to send a message. Ive been forcing my friends to help me experiment lol, and my messages as far as I can tell always go through to all groupchats and all one-on-one convos.

@eilihay Group Chats are not yet available. They will be added in a future update. Our team is aware of it & there is a lot of discussion on this forum about it. We know how important this is to our community. :slight_smile: If you’re able to be patient, it’s coming.

@eilihay, as @urszula said, many of us have posted about this topic elsewhere on this forum, and Mudita is aware of it and has promised to address the problems.

Meanwhile,

  • If you want to see the posts, search for “group messaging” instead of groupchat.
  • If you want a workaround to Mudita’s native “SMS” app for now, then consider sideloading the “Quik” app via F-Droid. I did, and I am pleased with it as a workaround.

@urszula Well, that would explain why I can’t make one, lol! Thank you. Looking forward to the updates whenever they’re ready
