It would be useful if the Mudita Kompakt (via the maps app, for example) could show its current GPS co-ordinates. This wouldn’t need to be on display all the time, and it would need to be in a non-proprietary and internationally accepted format (N/S E/W degrees-seconds or degrees-decimal for example).
This feature would make the device an invaluable emergency personal location finder for situations such as mechanical breakdowns or injury in places where the map app can’t offer detailed data, such as remote roads or off-road entirely, or if you don’t have the appropriate regional map downloaded. If the user (or anyone else nearby) still has a mobile phone signal, and nobody can’t adequately describe their location from observation or whatever maps they have available, then at least they have another means of offering their unambiguous location to whoever can be contacted.
I am aware that some emergency services can - sometimes - triangulate mobile phone locations anyway, but not all ‘lost’ situations require emergency services; car breakdowns or calling for a lift because you’re lost, cold and wet, for example.
Thank you; previous contributor “smuch” pointed that out, and the solution is adequate. Its drawbacks are:
You can only find it by already knowing that a long tap retrieves it, and this is not very obvious.
The co-ordinates only display for a few seconds.
It doesn’t strictly show the current location, but the location where you dropped the pin. You have to be careful you actually pin-drop on the current location; this is not difficult, but it’s an unwelcome extra step if you’re already stressed.
