Level — Community App Review
Version: 0.1.6
Level is a spirit level for the Kompakt. Black on white, one line weight, and nothing on the screen that is not the instrument.
It knows how you are holding it. Lying on its back it is a bullseye with two axes, across and along; stood on any of its four edges it is a tube with one. You do not choose a mode.
- The bubble rises to the high side, as a real one does, and stops at the end of its travel.
- It says “Level” only when it is, and the ring thickens at the same moment.
- Degrees or percent — press the number to swap. A fall or a ramp is a grade: a 1-in-80 drainage fall is much more usefully 1.25% than 0.72°.
- Calibration is kept for each way of holding it, because a phone rarely sits at the same angle on its back as on its edge — the camera bump sees to that.
- A sound when level, for a surface you cannot see the screen from.
The panel is only asked to redraw when a digit you can see changes, and the bubble is a ring, because a solid moving disc is the shape E Ink ghosts worst.
It asks for no permissions and has no network code; the accelerometer runs only while it is on screen. A phone’s accelerometer is not a machinist’s level, so calibrate against something you trust and treat the last digit as a hint.
It is after Level by Antoine Vianey and the Bubble fork by woheller69.
What I would like to know is how close your Kompakt reads to a real level once calibrated.
