Kompakt so much potential

I’ve decided to downgrade my Kompakt to a secondary phone and continue using it until the software improves. Given how the world operates today, I still need certain critical apps to function—such as Uber, Headspace (which used to work but no longer does), and possibly the Rivian app (my specific use case). I’d also appreciate native support for Spotify; while it technically works, the interface isn’t as clean, and full support from Mudita would be ideal.

There are some usability issues as well—like the unlocking feature, which sometimes opens random apps and starts deleting or adding notes. Emergency call functionality is also frustrating, as there’s no clear way to disconnect once it’s active. For me, I wanted to stop doomscrolling; but wanted all the other conveniences of modern life. I hope it improves and I can fully transition to out of apple eco system, I am looking forward to next update

I suspect the next update is coming this week (if not today) based on previous comments from @urszula, so you might not have to wait long.

In the meantime I’ve taken the same approach as you, and I am not using it as my primary phone, but decided against returning and hope for significant software improvements.

Also had to turn the Mudita into my secondary… In a moment where I quite needed to make an urgent call, my Kompakt froze on the lock screen - I could feel the haptic feedback from all the buttons but nothing worked. To me it’s becoming more a device I bring to a cafe on a quiet Sunday rather than a daily driver, and it kind of makes sense. Only to be used when I really need to slow down, because it’s literally not going to be able to keep up.

My Rivian R1S was the same. They did monthly updates since 2023 and I absolutely love the car. I am hoping the same thing for Kompakt. This will also help me play around with it. The e-ink does significantly cut down my doom scrolling, as it does not give that much dopamine and I need to go back to a book by the coffee table. It is a great product. So do please make essentials work - adding to the list - a good web bowser, support for remarkable ( a fellow e-ink product), chatGPT (Claude works; but chatGPT is a better product. I have not used Google for long time and it looks archaic). I would say - streaming music (dont care which app) then chatGPT.

I will say, I still use Uber just fine through the website and SMS messages

Same with me. I loved it. But it’s missing two things that (somewhat ironically) would help me completely unplug: Desktop messaging so I can store it away completely during my workday and group messaging so again, when work people send me stuff I don’t miss it. Until then…I just have hope.

Can you tell me how you did this? or how this works? I need Uber as well.
However, I’ve had few issues with my Kompakt. And anyway, wouldn’t want to give money to Spotify given their CEO’s recent controversy. I’ve been using the Kompakt as my main phone mostly. My only issue is maps. Anyway, I believe it will get much better with time for sure. It’s already really good.

m.uber.com is available in some countries you can access it on the browser, or someone in forums made it as an apk.

To access m.uber.com you’ll need a proper browser like Firefox, Chromium and not the included webviewtester that’s installed in the Kompakt.
