Despite the similarities, the Minimal Phone is a much different experience than the Kompakt, and I won’t be keeping it.
Out of the box it offers a busier experience that is smartphone-like but cumbersome due to the eInk screen. When using the Mininal Phone I kept thinking, why offer featuresthat don’t align with the intent of the device it in the first place?
The Minimal Phone still presents the user with those familiar click-and-scroll cues, along with notifications and account login prompts. It’s not quiet or calm. It’s bipolar.
It doesn’t feel like a paradigm shift.

@jmudita Thanks for sharing for feedback.
I also love my Kompakt! It feels so good to hold and by now, I have all the apps I need on it (sans Social Media and with a hidden browser if I need to look something up in an emergency).
I also noticed that I’m using my phone far less often and if I do, it’s only for things a phone should do: calling and texting. Well, and music and navigation even though those are not strictly phone things. But I love travelling and discovering new places and while I pretty much enjoy just seeing where my walk takes me, I still sometimes need help finding my way back
I discovered that I really like Organic Maps for this since I mainly get around on foot (and sometimes public transport) and love using just the directional arrow for that instead of following a suggested route because it feels like a scavenger-hunt mini game

@aerdureth Thanks so much for sharing! We’re really glad to hear you’re enjoying your Kompakt and using it in such a mindful, intentional way. Love the idea of turning navigation into a little scavenger hunt, that’s exactly the kind of experience we hoped to inspire.
Keep on exploring
