Actually how the notification reader is set up is very simple so this is not a launcher issue, it’s a communication issue of your device and whatsapp. Because of the lack of google play services, Whatsapp has a fallback for notifications but this is not as robust or fast as the Google Play Services one.
Katapult simply shows what Android sees, if android sees it so will Katapult. If Android says this notification is gone, it will be gone from Katapult.
Katapult can’t connect to other apps and see if the notification is gone or not, that would be impossible to manage.
I love this update! Thank you for making this. Looks clean and makes the Mudita more usefull without adding too much clutter.
I have a weird issue though: a Capital K in the right bottom corner persisting, it’s on. top of the bottom right icon a bit, can’t press it and can’t find a setting that enables it. Any idea?
I noticed something, not sure if it’s related to Katapult or to the system in general.
When there is a black background (for example a dark wallpaper), then refreshing the e-ink screen does not clear the ghosting. Even pressing “home” several times does not remove grey shapes (icons etc). Maybe it’s not doable on the Kompakt, but since Katapult has the refresh option, I noticed this for the first time.
WTF, this is a game changer! I love it—this is amazing work, extremely nice! Where can I buy you a coffee? BTW, the only thing I dislike is the notification counter. It would work much better if it were placed outside the icon, I mean, just adjusting the position (sorry I can not upload images or post links because I am a new user - sucky btw a lot)
Loving Katapult so far, just switch over from inkos. Would love it if there was an option to make the media player widget larger, the buttons currently are kind of small and I sometimes misclick. If I had the option to remove the text from the top of the widget and used that space for larger buttons/artwork it would be perfect. I only use my mudita for podcasts and music now since I randomly don’t receive text messages
Has anyone else experienced significant battery drain since 1.3? I’m not sure if it’s the culprit (thinking maybe the lock screen accessibility workaround?) or not but I’m suddenly getting same day 80% to 6% drain, even with Bluetooth fully off and all apps hard closed. Just wanted to see if anyone is having similar issues here? I’m not using the screensaver feature at all.
That is way too much. During my testing the lockscreen widget didn’t have any battery impact that I could notice. I lose about 20% battery overnight with it (bad signal reception causes quite a bit of that).
Can you give me an example of apps that you have enabled for the Widget. I’ll try to investigate if there are any issues I might have missed, but as a general rule the Accessibility permission in lockscreen is only activated when you turn on that screen, it sits idle if your screen is off and battery impact should be super small.
Screensaver on the other hand is power hungry, but you said that you’re not using it at all.
@jaks I’m happy that you’re liking Katapult, and happy that you found a solution by changing the DPI of the screen. I’ll look into the sizes but I can’t promise anything.
Hi there - just following up here from my thread in the os 1.6 update. For some reason, I am not able to click on the app icon to enter the Katapult app since the update. I can long press on home and access the menu items from there. But since the 1.6 update, when I press the app icon itself, the device just blinks and takes me to my home screen. Maybe that is by design, but it has been a change since the 1.6 update. Thanks for your time on this!
If you installed Katapult, during it’s onboarding it asked you to set it as a default launcher. If you did this then you won’t have to open Katapult it should be your default home app.
You can long press on home and access the menu items, I’m not sure what this means.

Yes - I appreciate your patience, I am so new to this device that I’m probably not describing it correctly. I’ve spent some time setting things up on my Kompakt this week and have toggled into the Katapult settings a lot as I’ve tinkered with this. I’ve accessed the settings in two ways on OS 1.5- one (first video) long holding on home and two (second video) through the icon that is provided in the app screens (I realize it’s not an “app”, but kinda looks like one from the icon). Before the update, both of these approaches took me directly to settings, but since 1.6, only the long press on home works for me to access settings. This is really no biggie for me at all! And I love this launcher - it’s been great so far. It is easy for me to just hide the icon and simply use the first method to access settings, but just FYI as we get use to the new OS. This was not happening in 1.5.
Thank you I finally understand what you mean. From your original post I somehow thought Katapult is not working properly (I thought you are not able to open other apps in Katapult).
Are you sure about this ? Because I had never implemented that feature. The Katapult icon (which is hidden by default) had only one function in mind, to be able to uninstall Katapult without having to use third-party apps, it was not linked to open settings.
My other launcher inkOS does have an inkOS settings entry in the app drawer, but I never implemented one for Katapult. Which actually is not a bad idea so I’ll add this for the upcoming version
