Is the Mudita team thinking about making a legitimate & user-friendly side-loading process for users? I think I heard on a YT video that this was happening

I’m hearing conflicting reports about side-loading.

  1. I heard any sideloading would void the warranty.

  2. I heard on a few YouTube reviews that Mudita was going to create a legitimate process for users to side-load?

My understanding is side loading does not necessarily void the warranty. I believe it is phrased as may void warranty. One example that was given was that some apps may affect battery life. It seems like a CYA statement as people explore beyond their currated ecosystem. That being said there are people already trying a variety of apps to so if they will work.

I don’t know if they are making a "legitimate " way to sideload. But there is a way, details are out there and they are not planing to shut down that access.

The sideloading process is explained on YouTube. Jose Briones if I recall correctly.

Regarding warranty, Urszula corrected me today. The statement is, they cannot guarantee smooth operations of those apps and if for example battery drain was because of such app, they can’t help with that. That’s fair.

@tecnopope We talk about sideloading in this thread:

Sideloading does not void warranty- that’s some speculation that’s been going around since we launched Mudita Kompakt. For some reason there is a misinterpretation of sideload vs rooting. I often see those terms used in the same sentence, with individuals thinking they mean the same thing.
