Internet speed below 5 mbit/s, help needed

Good day!

So I noticed that since I got my old Mudita replaced that my internet and therefore also hotspot speed have been incredibly slow. This is a huge downer since I really need my hotspot for anything as I don’t have any Wifi. I switched my SIM card to my “old” smartphone and it worked perfectly fine. It really is an issue with the phone. With my old Mudita phone, however, this was never an issue, so I am really asking myself what the reason could be. If anyone knows what the reason may be or has a tip, please feel free to tell me!
I really love using the Mudita as my only phone and I would keep it that way, but while writing this I have barely 1 mbit/s!!

I really hope this is not some defect on the hardware of the phone, I am pretty sure it has to do with some software/connectivity setting but am too much of a noob to fix the problem myself. I have seen that there are advanced settings but these numbers and letters are train station to me.

I am in Germany, might also be important.

Thank you in advance!

@stranger Let me see if I understand this correctly- when you speed test the HOTSPOT from your Mudita Kompakt is appears slow, but when you switch the sim back to a traditional smartphone, the speed is increased? Is this what’s happening?
What network are you on in Germany? Also? Are you running any sideloaded apps on Mudita Kompakt?

Yeah, not just the hotspot but the internet in general. This makes the Kompakt unusable in my case.
I have some sideloaded apps, might that be the issue?
I am using the Telekom bandwiths, but my contract is from congstar.

Sorry for the late reply

@stranger I’ve asked our team about this, but just to have all the info- can you tell me what the difference in speed is?

On the device receiving the hotspot from my SMARTPHONE, I can get around 50 mbit. If I give hotspot via the Kompakt, I don’t even have 5, sometimes even less than 1 mbit. It never gets over 5 mbit, even with full signal.

@stranger that’s a huge drop.
I talked to our team & these are the possible causes:
Either your sideloaded apps are causing this- and yes a sideloaded app can drink most of the internet.
OR your carrier is limiting this because it uses default uncertified APN settings. So, check your APN settings & make sure they match the ones in your other phone.
ALSO, please let us know what sideloaded apps you have.

I just reset my Mudita Kompakt to factory settings and it is an issue with the mudita, not with the SIM or sideloaded Apps. The APN is not the issue, on my old Mudita it wasn’t an issue either. I will see if maybe there is a deeper reason.
One thing I noticed however, is that also my MiFi router is giving me 10-15 mbit/s. This is still slow but still faster than the Mudita. Sadly I cannot remember how fast my former Kompakt was. If you have any more tips, feel free to tell me.

One thing I wanted to add is that maybe it has to do with the fact that the Komapakt has no Carrier Aggregation?

What do you mean when you say “your old Mudita”?
Did you have a different Kompakt phone and everything worked fine? If you suspect that this might be something with this particular unit, then I would encourage you to contact our customer service dept at [email protected]
