Im selling my Mudita Kompakt, here's why (Sweden)

First up, shameless plug: Selling a Mudita Kompakt over at Tradera (Swedish/Nordic-version of Ebay). Search for Mudita Kompakt and you’ll find it.

Next up, the reason why Im selling it:

I had in the beginning of the pandemic struggled with addiction to my smartphone, endless scrolling, reels/shorts-bonanza for hours on end and it was eating up my spare time.

To counter this I bought a Nokia flip phone that acted like my second phone wich I took to work and when I went out of the house. With that said, I still scrolled like a maniac when I came home to my smartphone. I gave up on this method and used a smartphone once again on a daily basis both at work and at home.

Fast forward and many hours of research (big thanks to @Jose_Briones and his brilliant YouTube-channel) I got to the conclusion that the Kompakt was the phone for me. And it was, for about a year. The screen time reduced, I acted more thoughtful of how I used tech, smart devices, and the internet in general. I found a love for E-ink and small form factors, beutiful design and a company behind the device that is a breath of fresh air.

What really made me decide to sell it is the two phone-solution. I had to be able to use the swedish digital ID for day to day life (payments, tickets, parcels, events and so on). It stressed me out to have two devices that had to be charged, with me in my pockets and constantly switching the hotspot on and off on the Kompakt. I know MicroG is a solution but Im not that tech savvy and unsure about the security.

I loved my time with the Kompakt, but now I have to take the step to learn to limit myself and my harmful use of my smartphone. I will still read the forum and follow the development of the company and the products to come. Maybe pick up an alarm clock even.

If Mudita ever does a Kompakt 2 this is my humble wishlist:

  • Keep the design, form factor and E-ink screen. It’s brilliant and unique.
  • Reduce the size of the offline-switch, too many accidental switches have been made in my pocket.
  • Make two versions, one de-googled, and one with google-services (or integrated MicroG or something similar, like Dumber is doing)
