@ultramaze you are working with a lot of tech.
I see MK adds a level of complexity.
So if you have two phone numbers like I have, all RCS and android “text messages” still go through OpenBubbles
If you somehow hack OpenBubbles to work with Mudita Kompakt on the same phone number, any RCS/Android phones will come through Mudita only on SMS app on the Kompakt.
So you’ll have two apps basically sending your “texts”. SMS and Android phones will go to SMS Mudita app, and iMessages will go through OpenBubbles
I’m working on seeing if I can vibecode some sort of App that will be similar to OpenBubbles but would be specifically built for Kompakt, and other dumbphones.
I never used OpenClaw. It’s a little too complicated for me right now. I am currently using Claude Code, Cowork etc. and it gets everything I need done for the most part
I have OpenBubbles set up with my phone number, and it’s true that messages will go to two separate apps (although almost everyone I know uses iMessage). You can set up text forwarding so that text messages sent to your Kompakt will forward to your other apple devices, but you can’t currently SEND SMS messages from OpenBubbles (which is annoying but they’re working on it). It would be nice to re-write OpenBubbles to be more e-ink friendly, but re-writing the app to use MMD and compose would be a huge undertaking. Thankfully, you can currently set the theme to use only black and white which helps a bit.
If you want to use an iphone to register your kompakt with imessage I’d recommend using the first method here since it doesn’t require jailbreaking. An iphone 7 is perfect since it runs ios 15 and the method doesn’t work as reliably on later versions of ios. As long as you leave the relay on and the phone plugged in and connected to wifi 24/7 you should be good to go.
