How do you create music folders?

A big feature that was advertized in December was that the music player could now play “folders”

But how do you create folders?

  1. The music app doesn’t allow folder management and only show one “music” folder.
  2. Mudita center only allows to upload individual files in the “music” folder
  3. Mudita Kompakt cannot be mounted over USB as it keeps setting the “usb controlled by” to “this device”, whatever I do to change it.
So how do you manage to use that feature?

I create folders on my computer and transfer them to an SD card that I can use with the compact. Both mp3 and FLAC work like a charm.

Are you working on a PC or a MAC? If you work on a PC there are ways to do it in Windows Explorer- which I like. But you can delete them from the phone. What version of MuditaOS K are you currently running on your Kompakt?

Running a PC with Debian Linux, thanks. USB mass storage is standard protocol so this should not interfer.
MuditaOS K 1.4

The pencil icon you circled allows me to delete “Music” but not to create new folders

Yes, that’s right. I use a PC & I create my folders in Windows Explorer. It’s useful to me because I do upload long-form audio articles & once I’m done with them, I can just delete them.

But how do you manage to have the Kompakt let the PC be the USB controller? My Kompakt always switch to being the controller.

It works well on my Linux PC, but not in mass storage mode, in MTP (KDE / Manjaro).

Indeed, it is MTP. That’s why usb-mass storage was not working.

With MTP, I’m able to browse files and I was able to create one folder but I’ve many errors and, according to the log, the device disconnect/reconnect itself all the times.

I’ve not been able to upload any files or create more folders because of that.

I should try with another computer to see if it is my phone or my computer the culprit.

Salut à toi !

Hmm, I guess it depends on the MTP implementation… I remember I used to have much trouble browsing MTP devices on Linux in the past. (I am kinda clueless on the subject ; I just notice it now works)

Could you just try from a recent Linux Live CD ? To have the very same configuration as me, you could try the Manjaro KDE live CD for instance…

Edit : super ton blog !
