Hi there. I’ve just tested sending a message to my sisters (two of them) using group messaging. On my end it opened in a new thread, but it also comes up as a message to both of them separately in threads I had already started with them. One of my sisters has confirmed it has only come through on the thread we already had going.
I’m guessing group messaging isn’t really working as it should then, unless this is how folks expect it to? @urszula any ideas?
Frustrating! (This one I was looking forward to as it was my most used thing on WhatsApp with my sisters.
Yeah this was the one thing I hoped would work. So annoying! Might have to reconsider the light phone again, or maybe a dumb flip (although really don’t want to text the old way!)
@umalum, if you are in the USA or Canada and are open to getting a flip phone, then I recommend the Sunbeam Wireless F1 Pro series. I had to sell my Kompakt earlier this year because of the need for (fully functional) group messaging. I subsequently also sold my 3-year-old F1 Orchid and bought an F1 Pro Maple. Sunbeam gives you 30 days of its Premium Service, which to me is then worth the annual US$40 subscription. It gives you super-fast, quite-accurate speech-to-text + other features. Plus, you can always use the on-screen QWERTY keyboard.
If only, no sunbeam here in the uk. It’s frustrating as I love my kompakt but there is so little alternative! There are shitty Nokia flips here but they have the old style texting and I’m not prepared to have more friction than I have already. Both my sisters have been complaining about my switch to this phone, but my mental health has been much improved! Won’t be going back to a smart if I can help it. Just had a look and it seems lightphone have also got group messaging issues.
Except for missing group-messaging and voicemail features as of MuditaOS K 1.2, I might have kept my Kompakt. I continue to watch this forum for others’ comments about missing or sub-optimal features. Perhaps one day I will buy the Kompakt again, once the dust settles. (I had the Global version, and it worked well here in the USA.) Meanwhile, I am grateful that the Maple serves me well, just as the Orchid did.
@umalum Please check if you have the correct APN settings for your provider.
Please note that for O2 UK the APN settings are different for pre-paid customers vs monthly contract customers, so please check that you have the correct ones.
