I sideloaded Call Recorder open source app. It’s able to save the call record files with correct file size and time duration, but not able to hear anything when playing those recorded files.
Anyone tried this app or any other related app working for you?

@ramamohan Are you recording phone calls you’re having with another person? I’ll ask our team, but it could be a privacy issue & perhaps Mudita Kompakt does not allow that. I’m not sure, so I will check on this for you.
You are right, it’s privacy issue. Just for curiosity, I tried this app. But it’s not working. iPhones have this feature.

@ramamohan Have you tried this specific app on another phone? I’m not talking about iPhone’s feature, but have you tried downloading this apk on a traditional smartphone & see if it works?
No. I didn’t try on another android phone.

I remember at some point I had to have a call recorder on Android and it was quite dependant on the brand and Android version. One year it worked flawlessly, the other year I was trying an app with half dozen options on what to record and none of them worked. Might be Android-induced limitations.

Today I tried installing on some android smartphone, it’s not even allowing it to install.

I took a braindead path here and asked Chat GPT to confirm what I remember.
It claims Android 11 was first to start restricting microphone input audio stream access while on the call, some vendors might allow this natively but depends on local law on recording calls.
GPT claims there is a way to record calls made via BT headset but I don’t know this niche at all.
Probably rooting the phone is necessary unless @urszula verifies this internally. Could have a use case of a team of consultants where they have gotten MKs but need their calls recorded.
IMHO try sideloading top 3 call recorders (if they don’t look like a scam) but it might be easier to get a physical voice recorder (dictaphone - does anyone call it like that in English?) and keep it close - plus you can use it outside calls as well.

I’ve asked our team, but I’m don’t think even rooting would help (unless you flashed a different operating system) because, from what I read, Android has blocked this citing misuse of the Accessibility features.
