I am seriously considering getting a Mudita Kompakt, but I can’t find an answer on this one feature that is absolutely critical for me…I’m in a group SMS chat with my entire family, and I love my family and all, but that chat is blowing up all day long. On my current smartphone I am able to mute all notifications from that chat so I get no “bings” and no icons. When I’m ready to chat, I open the thread on my computer. I don’t want to know that I’ve missed 57 messages from this chat in any way, shape, or form.
On the Mudita Kompakt, is there a way to either:
Mute specific contacts or group chats so you never get any kind of visual, auditory, or vibration notification from them.
Select only specific contacts to trigger notifications, anyone not selected has no notification at all.
Hide ALL SMS notifications so I never see the little icon on the lock screen, header bar, or anywhere else.
@tehbooj Hi, at this moment it’s not possible to do what you have described. However, I did pass this on to the team to see if it is something that could be implemented in a future update.
Thank you! I’ll keep an eye on the upcoming improvements, and plan to buy a Kompakt when I see this feature hit!
For context, the reason this is important to me is because phone notifications really mess with my mental health. When I discovered Digital Minimalism and read about the connection between notifications and anxiety, I was surprised to learn that I am not alone. You can find articles and studies about it if you search for “Phone Notifications Trigger Anxiety”.
The most impactful thing I did to my current phone to improve my well-being and reduce my phone time was to turn off notifications for everything. The only notifications allowed on my phone are calls and texts from my wife and mom. All other contacts and unknown numbers are blocked and I deal with those messages from an application on my desktop computer when I specifically set aside time to check my messages or chat with my friends.
If the goal of the Mudita Kompakt is to help us disconnect from and have a healthier relationship with our phones, then in my opinion control over notifications is a mission critical feature!
