Ask the CEO: Mudita Kompakt edition

Many of them are quite practical on end user POV, if implemented ever.
Team should sort High, Mid and Low priority (and Pure 2 and Kompakt 2 ideas)
All can be done in time. Some never for Kompakt 1. But also some never made to Pure 1.

Wow! This became a lively thread and you’re giving us a lot to think about. :raised_hands:

That said, I encourage you to use this specific thread for specific questions you’d like Mudita’s CEO Michał Stasiuk to answer – we’d hate to accidentally overlook an important inquiry when compiling the final list for Michał.

Thanks for being awesome y’all. :heavy_heart_exclamation:

Please review Qs as - is. Separate threads could go on, but after we got some answers.
When will be a CEO Session?

Thanks @Michal_Kicinski for explaining this! If EMF is 0 or close to zero in OFFLINE+ mode that would be fabulous!!! I’m generally happy for the phone to be kept on OFFLINE+ mode - do calls and texts still come through on this mode?

Nope. Nothing come through. Device is fully offline. GPS and navigation works, though. For what you need to download the map of specific region / country first. I hope this help.

Ok, that doesn’t really work then hahaha. Low radiation only when phone is basically off isn’t a working phone with low radiation :weary:. Do you think this is something that can be achieved later on down the road?

As far as I understand, Ethernet can be used for communications but that’s not an answer when mobility is key.
Several vendors managed to get their SAR under 0.5. Mudita Pure was the lowest possible but it came with a tradeoff, from what I understood.

I know I am a bit impatient
But can you narrow down if the Mudita will be shipped early or late April ?

@miauzgenau we don’t have anything specific dates yet, however, as we get closer we’ll definitely inform the community, so stay tuned

My guess would be mid- to late April, April is next week and I doubt anyone is getting a Kompakt the first two weeks of April, hopefully I am wrong!

I am still holding on to hope that they will surprise us and release the North American version too lol

I am also blindly holding out hope that the NA version is released sooner than projected.

There is fundamental problem with EMF & Phones. Their work just are just based on EMF.

And those days, data transmission is also v important factor - this we adressed in Kompakt, making device and its software reliable with very limited data transmission.

Beside that, for the voice calls, one of the simplest way to decrease EMF strenght influencing our bodies is to increase the distance from the device to the body, as EMF drops significantly with every inch of the distance. Hence using loudspeaker or wired headphones is one of the simplest way to adress it. Also carrying the phone in the backpack/bag instead of the pocket is worth to consider.

Hope this helps,

Agree with all of this, in general dumbphone or not I think we all need to practice not having our phones on us CONSTANTLY, go outside for a walk, without a phone, try it, will change your life

If GPS works while Kompakt is in Offline + mode, is it actually only passively receiving as @joelponder wrote when he advocated for GPS on Harmony clock [quote=“joelponder, post:9, topic:5995”]
Using GPS does not reveal your location to anyone, GPS is a passive receiver like a radio.

Or is a functional GPS module displaying location to mobile phone towers while Kompakt is in Offline + mode?

Good suggestion, thank you!

@neatsolutions
GPS is not working in Offline+ mode.
Mudita Kompakt uses GPS only. Meaning it receives signals from satellites and based on its position, the Mudita Kompakt calculates position - trilateration. However, the whole location calculation is done locally on the device, thus no data is exposed to the world - privacy first :ok_hand:
There is no assisted GPS (A-GPS) either, due to privacy reasons as well, as it could potentially involve third parties.

It is a bit of a shame that the GPS on the Mudita Kompakt will NOT work when the Kompakt is in Offline+ mode.

I can imagine an owner wanting to use the Kompakt as a navigation aid while driving but does NOT want the Kompakt to be able to receive calls and text messages while driving and does NOT want that radiation exposure in the closed metal cage of an automobile.

@kirkmahoneyphd Sometimes, you just can’t have it all  I think the complete kill switch is much more of a unique feature.
