Apps worth sideloading onto Kompakt

As I became struggling with my home alarm system (every time someone closes the door too harshly, it detects sabotage attempt), I remembered I am going to nullify the service, aiming for simply getting notified myself if something is going on at home when I’m away.
So now, I think if I really go that route I’m going to sideload alarm control app (ConnectAlarm) and see how well that would work (I don’t want to keep smartphone with my just because of that).
On Android, it brings a notification and probably makes a sound+vibration like an alarm clock.

@buiosu Does the app require Google services to function properly? I’m asking because on Mudita Kompakt, apps that require google services may not function properly. I wouldn’t want you to be disappointed.

I think it doesn’t, AI says it doesn’t, and the app requires IP/hostname of the alarm unit to be typed in. I believe it uses some proprietary communications scheme.

Won’t work in Offline+ anyway tho. I’ll have to build a habit when on workdays I’m on Offline+ most of the time, and when we’re having a trip I keep it online.

I’m wondering if Telegram and Easy-Park will run. They will be the apps I use on the go for work. Perhaps Brave also, to check email and for some “emergency”.

@roberto I can check these apps for you & let you know.
I have signal & whatsapp on my Mudita Kompakt & they work perfectly fine. No issues.

That would be a great help!

would something like Waze function for car navigation, or does the screen update too frequently for e-ink?

Not true sideloading, but can one upload podcasts from a PC using the music app?

What podcast app do you recommend? Thanks!

Yup you can easily do that

@roberto I tried it & that Easy Park app you use requires GOOGLE services

Thank you, @urszula. I’ll need to redefine the initial strategy, because that is the only app with a broader area’s compatibility in Copenhagen when compared with others.

It could still work with MicroG, but that requires a bit more then just installing an apk file

Hi everyone!
I would also side load an email app. Since I have never owned a smartphone I never had whatsapp nor telegram; instead I have an email account dedicated to friends and family, and I would love to access it on my phone too.
Just an unrelated question: how do you load files on the Kompakt? With my current old phone I need to use BT which is very inconvenient IMO.

Through its companion app for computers, it is called Mudita Center I believe

There are already some videos online with instructions:

That screenshot answers a question that I had: Where do the side-loaded apps’ icons appear in the Kompakt launcher relative to the apps that come with the Kompakt?

Now I see that they will appear in alphabetical order but AFTER the final Mudita-provided app in THAT alphabetical order.

Has anyone tried Babbel? It doesn’t have a score on Plexus and I wasn’t able to find an answer somewhere else about its apk

Can we use it with Kompakt?
